 I'm planning on picking up one of the motorized o-scale 'Casey Jones' models that seemed to show up on Ebay every week and doing some modifications to it, specifically to make it look more like a Boston and Maine C-class 4-6-0 (although the more ambitious side of me wants to go a bit more drastic in my modifications). The basic tender is close to spot on, with some examples having the same trucks as the model. Most of my modifications will need to be to the boiler, domes, firebox, cab, pony truck wheels, pilot and placement of accessories on the locomotive. Right now my main concern is that boiler on the model... Most of the later C-class engines had wagontop boilers, while the model has a more-or-less parallel design mated to a belpaire firebox. Will it be easier for me to shave down the firebox and build up the material to the wagontop shape, or just cut it off and start from scratch?

Regards, Dylan Lambert

P.S. In case anyone is interested, I did find a nice google site to supplement the book of B&M locomotives I have in my private library. Link for it is below;

Thanks Ron, although it might become a different project.I was wondering why I didn't get an email for an invoice, so I went in to check the model and someone went in and outbid me at the last minute... And it's was set to auto-raise it, so no luck for me grabbing the one I was hoping for (i.e. not in pieces). We'll just have to see what happens...

A word of warning.  About 25 years ago (yeh, I'm an old fart) I accidentally used on the driver bearings a lubricant that was not plastic compatible.  It attacked the plastic frame and within a matter of days the drivers started wobbling and then locked up.  So, check your lubricant.

Well that brings up a good question... Are all the Rivarrosi steam loco frames plastic? If that's the case, anyone have recommendations for a good lubricant to use?
