I just picked up an RMT BUDD CHristmas car, in pretty good shape. Before putting it to the track I did an inspection under neath & found  there was a staple jammed in the power pick up roller which I removed but thats when I noticed what looks like carpet fibers or some kind of a hair strands. The are wound pretty tight and tried to remove with tweezers and a pick but no luck. So now I am considering dissassembling it to get to the stuff/ fibers. Any thoughts?

Another option, something I did for someone else years ago with a similar problem...

I used a stiff bristle toothbrush, brushing the dirt and fibers out of the gear teeth, then working the gears and geared wheels forward and reverse, as I cleaned them. Use an rag to frequently clean the tooth brush as you are clearing the gears of whatever stuff is on them. Then (obviously) when you get everything clean and freely turning, re-lube the gears.

By the way, I really like my RMT Budd Cars. Good operating product for the 027 operator.
