Any update on the Strasburg RMT Ore Cars I ordered March 2022?
I already put them in my will.
Ordered them from Pats Trains, but has anyone gotten them from anywhere yet?
Thanks,
John

Been several threads on the subject and Walter has been on it. The original trucks were not acceptable and he went back to the drawing board to redesign them. Hopefully the shipping schedule holds.

Thanks for linking to the thread about this situation. I didn't know there was a thread that Walter was posting to. I own two of the affected cars, and felt like I was getting the runaround in my email correspondence with Walter, as the timeline keeps getting moved back. I understand that dealing with overseas manufacturers can be a challenge, but this has really dragged on to the point where my patience has worn thin and I'm questioning further purchases of RMT products.
Thanks to you, I'm now able to follow that thread so I'll at least know that I'm not missing any notifications.
My pleasure. I'm waiting for a few LIRR cars so I have an interest in this too.
Bob
I saw the improved trucks, a lot of little tweaks went in to try to make them much better than the previous generation.
I would imagine the delay for the RMT wood chip cars applies to the truck improvement as well. Anyone?
You can always keep up to date with RMT announcements and products at Walter's website:

Did you see these new trucks installed on the ore cars? If so, how did they run? Also, do you know whether these new trucks will be on RMT's new woodside reefers?
I am still waiting to fix my four ore cars. Walter has promptly responded to my two inquiries.
Hopefully I will get my trucks soon.

To All Inquiring Minds...
Yes the completely designed new freight car trucks will be on all new RMT cars moving forward from today! That includes ore cars, tank cars, woodside reefer cars, woodchip cars and the new recently announced scale 40ft boxcars.
For those few recent cars that were delivered and require new trucks, RMT is working with your toy train store dealers to handle these concerns when replacement trucks are available. Please be patient. The 'train guys' who helped with this project all say in unison that these new trucks and couplers are just 'incredible'.
Availability date will be announced on OGR Forum, RMT website and to RMT email subscribers as soon as shipment from RMT factory is confirmed.
Thank you for your patience.

The new trucks roll WAY better than the old design, one big change is needle-point axles and Delrin inserts.
Walter cannot ask for more than that!! Looking forward to getting my hands on these.

In extensive testing on my layout, these new trucks rolled over 24 feet starting, without assistance/hand pushing from a dead stop on an elevated section and rolled freely around curves and across track switches and diamond crossings and then coupled successfully to a standing car.
Just wait until they arrive on YOUR layout.

Sounds great!
Because I know nothing about them, would you please give a quick rundown/history as to why you are making a new truck?
Does it connect to traditional-sized knuckle couplers? Will it need oiling?
Thank you!
Great to hear that the issues with the RMT trucks are finally being resolved. I bought a couple of the tank cars approximately a year ago and the trucks were substandard, so, for now, they are shelf queens. Hopefully, RMT will offer at no cost replacement trucks to all who purchased RMT freight cars with the defective trucks.

irish rifle...Yes. RMT will be working with your toy train hobby shop to replace those trucks.
Micro...Recent change to full O scale freight cars created a need for a new freight car truck design. However some production came through with an older design that was not acceptable and that was the cause of problems. Rather than try to fix, RMT halted production and designed a totally new freight car truck. Months of testing began and finally a production sample was tested and fully approved. New wheels, new sideframes, new axles, new couplers too. These trucks are in production and will be available on all RMT freight cars moving forward. The earlier cars will have trucks replaced. Hope this helps.

Thank you!! I appreciate it and am now informed.
Will it still connect with "traditional" knuckle couplers from other O-gauge brands?

Yes, work on the couplers included making them compatible with industry standard couplers.
