Hi Walter, @RMT - Ready Made Trains @Walter Matuch A nice load of Northern Michigan Ore cars made it to my place via Wheeling West Virginia.
Holy cow, that is a lot of ore cars!!! Nice
Several of the new RMT cars have arrived and are ready for shipping. The new box cars and reefers look great.
- The New Hope & Ivyland ballast cars are almost gone.
- The Henning's Trains box cars are in and look great.
- When the new replacement trucks come in for the earlier cars, we will be offering replacements for any cars that we sold. We do have some earlier cars we have not shipped yet, we will when we replace those trucks. (thanks for everyone's patience)

Thanks for your support. I like your new RMT tag. Yes Hennings Trains is an RMT Headquarters. Walter/RMT
The new Hope and Ivyland Refrigerator Milk Car is up for preorder on Hennings.
Pat's has a great selection of custom run Mich area ore cars. Get them while you can. Walter/RMT
I received my Reading and Northern boxcar from White Rose Hobbies today and its going back tomorrow. It arrived with two broken pieces in the box and the catwalk is completely broken off the roof of the car. The car has fingerprints all over, that I would of cleaned. Granted it was on $35 but I don't want to do repairs. I will see what they say and give another chance because I like the car for my Reading and Northern passenger train. First impressions.....
Cincytrains...Whatever problems you have with this boxcar please understand that White Rose Hobbies and RMT will take care of your concerns promptly and without fail.

RMT is making some awesome cars. I love the PS-1 I got from Henning's at York. I'm going to buy myself another along with some of the new reefers.

LNE RR. While that road might have been only known in NE, Louis Marx made it nationally known on the sides of once (pre-internet) elusive "3/16" hoppers, and so, l noticed these ore cars.

I'll have to get a hold of Pat's Trains and find out what happened.

After 2 1/2 years and a couple of emails it turns out the order was screwed up and only 2 were available instead of the 6 I have shown on the original order so I cancelled it. Maybe I'll try again if they are in stock, but I'll never wait 2 1/2 years again for any product. I do realize some of this was because the trucks had to be redone.

cincytrains...I discussed your concerns earlier today with White Rose Hobbies and they will be contacting you shortly. Since the original sale was conducted through Ebay, there may be certain protocols that need to be followed by parties concerned to solve your problem. I have no doubt that this will be quickly resolved to your satisfaction.
If there are any further questions, I am always available for off-forum discussion. My contact information is in my OGR profile or through the RMT website.
Thanks.
Walter/RMT
stangtrain...Glad you liked the NH&I ore cars. Henning's Trains will have some more custom runs to announce in the next few weeks.

crafttech...Other OGR Forum supporting train dealers may have your missing 4 cars available so you need not miss out on receiving them. Give them a call.

After waiting two and a half years only to find out that the dealer screwed up the order and I had to hound him just to find that out he immediately said he would BACKORDER the other four and ship the two with no guarantee of a delivery date or cancel the order. Then he tried to blame the issue on the delay due to the truck replacement at the factory when he clearly somehow had two cars on file for the order despite the printed proof that I had a preorder for six. Still insisted he doesn't know how it happened and that it wasn't his fault when it clearly was. So I said no thanks. I needed six cars and not two with a search for the other four after waiting this long.
A little empathy would have been nice. I'm nearly 80.

craftech...Designing the new freight car trucks took over 2 years but the final product is well worth the wait. I would not accept any thing less. These new trucks are exceptional and have alot of details and operating characteristics that will certainly add to the enjoyment of RMT freight cars. I am 75 so I can understand your concern about the delay. The response coming in to RMT dealers is quite alot and perhaps you can give him another chance. I know many RMT dealers personally and they are all 'good guys'.

stangtrain...Appreciate the photo and your nice comments.
stinky1...Appreciate your nice comment.
jjames9641...RMT has over 50 different ore cars listed on the RMT website...check them out.

He said he would let me know when he has six.

As Walter noted in a different thread. These are scale cars. The ore cars and reefers require 36” diameter

Great job Walter.
How blue would you say the Ballantine reefer is ? I was thinking about getting it but I couldn't really tell if the blue was too toyish looking in the photo.

Thanks! Some pics would be great! They look nice in the box!
Christopher2035 and RSJB18...Here are some woodside reefer car photos.
The Ballantine is the correct dark/navy blue. Looks pretty good after the first can and still looking great after a six-pack!

Walter,
These look great! I will definitely be ordering a few tomorrow. One thing I noticed is that the trucks look too modern for the cars. They look like roller bearing trucks from what I can see in the pics. Is this the case? It's not a deal breaker by any means, but was just wondering.
Christopher2035...Roller bearing trucks were developed in 1929 and were used on freight railcars, steam locomotives and passenger cars. Walter/RMT

Good to know. I'm excited to get my hands on a few of these!
Walter - just got my Ballantine Beer and Pink Elephant Beer cars delivered from Trainworld, and they look great.
I have a few other Beer cars on order and I can't wait to see them.
Thanks, great additions to my Beer Car collection.
Ok, so a little clarification:
Roller bearing trucks were first tested on a rail car in 1923. However, they were expensive compared to “friction bearing” (normal) trucks and were not widely adopted till after WWII. Passenger cars and express cars were the first to receive roller bearing trucks. Freight cars that were expected to spend the majority of their service lives on home lines were then given priority for roller bearing trucks. Then the remainder of the rolling stock was considered. Roller bearing trucks didn’t really come into broad use until the late fifties/early sixties and by the late 70’s ”friction bearing” trucks were outlawed. Railroads usually did the upgrade when cars came in to the shop for regular maintenance or repair.
(Source: combination of several articles from Model Railroader and Trains)
So historically speaking, while yes roller bearing trucks are technically not an anachronism on cars whose heyday was in the 30’s, your railroad would have to be super progressive AND flush with money to have such cars.
But it’s your railroad, so do what you want…
Cheers,
Price

I just received part of my beer train order and the cars are excellent and run well on my 36" curves.
I have one coupler, however, which will not latch closed - I am guessing that little internal nub on the latch just needs to be popped back into place but I can't seem to get it - any advice on how to re-seat it?
@Walter Matuch posted:BillYo414...should be here late December.
