Finishing my 6 stall roundhouse and was wondering for those that have a roundhouse, do you glues the roof down?  I ask only because if there is an issue, engine won’t move, how easy would it be get the engine out if is glued down.  I have the Kolber roundhouse with two stall extensions.

Thanks

Tony

Here are some pics of my Korber roundhouse with extension. I used some "heavy duty" white cardboard I had lying around and made roof panels that fit. Everything was taped and white glued together. I then made a "roll roofing" from some more masking tape and painted it grimy black.

Surprisingly, it all stayed together for 10 years. It just sat on top of the wooden frames and I removed it many times to detail the interior and access the engines if needed.

Unfortunately, this is all gone as my old layout was demolished for my new one 4 years ago. The old layout was the feature cover story in Run 255. Check it out if you have digital access as it contains a few more pics.

Hope this helps.

The roof on my 4 stall homemade roundhouse is glued too the sides and end wall and the front.  The roof is needed to keep the shape of the RH stable and strong.  It is only about 30 in wide and 17 in deep and the whole structure can easily be removed.  There is a connector for the round house light wires, that was made from two tops of old 9v batteries that has to be unconnected.
