The dynamic brake equipped RS-3's had additional louvres on their short end for cooling. This is an often missed detail. Thanks to Archer, not so in the case of my project

a wee bit more...Someone commented recently that you could truly tart up a Weaver RS-3 as far as detail(not in those words), you can! You can model almost any variation, including a PRR dynamic brake equipped version

Nice work. I need to work on my Atlas RS3 sometime in the future, but a lot of other projects are higher in my queue. Do I see the beginnings of a PRR trainphone antenna? Have fun with that one!
Only suggestion - I would have shaved off and sanded all of the louvers in front hood where you added more so they're all the same shape/size. One might say that you won't see them when the unit is moving, but then you won't really see the entire column of louvers you added either.
If you want to get really anal, you can shave everyone off on the entire unit and re-add them to make them ALL the same, but even that is beyond my care factor/perfection level.
I can live with it, I eyeballed it from 3 ft and it is livable, though, strictly speaking, you are correct. Basically, I just was undermotivated. And yes, it is getting a trainphone
The RS-3 has sound now, the NCE decoder for the motor will be installed soon. This is the first of my engines to ever have sound, not counting a battery powered toy 50 years ago....
Having tested the sound, I've taken it back out while I install new headlights(two LED's on each end for the Pyle lights) and am going to light the number boards. I want to get the wiring in very carefully before I install the cards; besides which I have to put a new speaker on the sound card and mount the enclosure under the fan grill after I put the front headlights in (space issues).
