I have a 5’x9’ layout in my garage (in Florida), mounted on a pulley system, for my 1952 AF high rail train set, which my grandfather gave me when I was 6 yrs old. This is the rainy season here and I’ve been dealing with new rust on my 66 year-old track. I’ve been considering purchasing new track, but am afraid that if I spend the $$ to shift to more realistic track, it’ll be wrecked by rust. Any recommendations on a good rust-resistant s-gauge (or maybe even s-scale) track? (nickle alloy?)

Thanks again for all the help. Darn, I don't see any of the nickle-silver or stainless track curves being tight enough to fit my 5x9' layout; my AF track has 40" diameter curves (measured from outside ties; 38" measured from center of the rails). Smallest Gargraves stainless is 42" dia, which won't fit my layout. Don't see any brands of stainless or nickle-silver with AF curve diameters (40" outside-tie dia). But, maybe its there and I'm just not finding it. Also, would be great if the stainless or nickle-silver track I eventually find would button right up into my AF switches, as I have 13 of them and can't really handle the cost of replacing all of those.

On with my quest -- I'll keep looking...5x9' layout-L5x9' layout-R

Both Lionel FasTrack and MTH S-Trax have 20" radius curves compatible with Flyer track, along with switches.

Granted, replacing the switches with either would be $$$, though.  Doug Peck of Port Lines Hobby Supplies shows the MTH/SHS-Flyer adapter rail joiners in stock.  These will work with FasTrack also.
