i have been buying OGR magazine since the mid eighties and was wondering if an S scale or  S high rail layout has ever been

featured in the magazine.  I know the title of the magazine is that it features O scale and O gauge but it would be nice to see

a feature now and then on S scale or high rail.  I  will continue to purchase the magazine, but it still would be refreshing to see something different. Is it just me or do others feel the same?

Although it would be nice, this is probably expecting a bit too much. However, Ed Boyle has over the years discussed in his Collector Column Gilbert Flyer accessories usable on O gauge/scale layouts and prewar Gilbert 3/16" scale O gauge trains (e.g., the prewar Royal Blue set).

Bob is correct. Over the years, I have written about AC Gilbert and Lionel/AF accessories that can be used in both S and O. It is surprising how many there are and well they look on toy train and Hi Rail layouts in either gauge. Recently I wrote about how good the Gilbert American Flyer #760 Highway Flasher looked in a vignette grouping with the Lionel Prewar #46 and 47 Crossing Gates. Also noted that by adding a wire, that the 760 can be made to have its bulbs flash alternately, just like the gigantically oversized Lionel 154.  More to come on the AF front in Collector's Gallery.

During the the last York meet, Bob purchased a pristine Prewar American Flyer 3/16 scale O gauge Royal Blue set which we would love to feature Collector's Gallery. How about shipping it to us so we can photography it properly, Bob? We are VERY GOOD at taking care of and safely shipping such trains. It would be great if you could share that wonderful set with our readers.

Well, not presently, Ed. It is on my prewar layout and I am enjoying it immensely at the moment.

However, we could arrange something in the future.

Bob
