Got up this morning to some beautiful light streaming through the clerestory windows onto the layout.  So...I thought you all may enjoy seeing some pictures of the ATSF El Capitan crossing the bridge in the harbor.  Along with those pics are some mixed in of harbor action.  Still working on the details and don't have it all done yet so sorry for the pink foam along the wharf...but that will be changed soon.  Also...I need to get rid of that huge coupler on the front locomotive.  I have the scale couplers ready to install, just haven't done it yet.  Again...if you right click on a photo and then click "open link in new window", you will get a full page view!!

Thanks for looking!!

Alan

Thanks Ed, Alex, Nicole, David, Alan, John, Mike C., Mike M., Charlie, O-gauger, Brian, Rick, and Forrest.  I really appreciate you taking the time to make all of your nice comments.

Mike Maurice...the water is actually a sheet of shower door glass.  Many folks have used this technique over the years with Dennis Brennan most recently illustrating how it is done in his book.  In particular, I do not paint the bottom of the glass rather I paint the surface upon which the glass is going to lay.  I use eighth inch thick masonite with the smooth side facing up and painted a color that simulates the water I am trying to model.  This seems to make the "water" appear just a little deeper IMHO.

Thanks,

Alan
