i would, that is one very cool locomotive...

Of course I would! ......But only if it's AFTER 3rd Rail does the ATSF E1 AB (2 Class) !
BTW, that's a face only a mother could love! ..........the engine, that is.....not the engineer! Then, if you've seen a color shot of this bubba, as built, you'd think its 'mom' went to a secondhand paint shop to dress it!
But.....I'd buy it for sure!

Ah yes, "Amos and Andy" as they were sometimes referred to. Here are a couple of color (colorized) shots. I've been hoping that a model will be produced in O scale, despite the anticipated expense.
Someone did an H.O. model. There has been some debate as the the actual colors as shown in the photo above.
Apparently, the BB-1800HP Box Cab platform was being marketed by EMC with different superstructures.
B&O (single-ended)
Demonstrator. It's hard to tell if this one had a cab at each end like the ATSF version.

No debate here on the colors. If your photo has correct color identification per Santa Fe information, and someone thinks that "Super Chief" Golden Olive is as portrayed in the HO model, then they must have drained the martini (or two....or three) before selecting/judging the 'olive'!
Good grief, that's as YELLOW as you can get!
"Pimpernel"? Oh the embarassment of it all!!!

My suspicion is that someone was showing off his/her literary prowess by adding "Pimpernel" to the scarlet red. As for the yellow, I don't know where they got that from -- as far as I recall, yellow didn't start showing up on the Santa Fe diesels until the freight F-units. If anything (other than the "gold olive"), the main side color would be Santa Fe Olive green to match the passenger cars of the time. Go figure.
Somewhere I read that it was more of a cobalt blue and a more dark amber color, crimson as well.

D500,
They were filmed on my Carbondale Junction, in Carbondale Ill. where the junction services both the Santa Fe and NYC. Nyc drops passengers off to continue on the ATSF to KC. and on to Houston. Nyc picks up ATSF passengers bound for New York. We also service an occasional SP locomotive using ATSF track for special occasions.
At least that's my story.
