I like it. There should be one with New York Central vs. Pennsylvania.
Cool!
In my younger and stupider days, I'd order one in a minute. But, I don't play chess that much anymore.

And what does not playing chess have to do with it? It's a Warbonnet King for cryin' out loud. You know what they say: "Paint a brick in Warbonnet and someone would buy it."
Or in this case, a chess king . . .
Of course, it would be sorta stupid to pay the $109 asking price plus $43 estimated shipping on the bay, given that one can buy it on Amazon, new, for just $78 plus $8 shipping.

Amazon says my set arrives next Monday . . . . the wonders of one-click shopping.
(And I searched for Warbonnet bricks, too, but they didn't have any :-)  .

I do draw the line at warbonnet painted bricks...

My wife made a lovely Warbonnet cake for my birthday once. But I'd draw the line at a Warbonnet brick as well.
This got me thinking...
How about shaping and painting a lump of coal as a tribute to Lionel's 'Black Bonnet' scheme?
Actually, it's pretty cool. Came in a nice display case and the cardboard box around it even had a map of the ATSF system on the back.
My favorite pieces are the Northern and its tender (# is 3781).
That's kind of an ugly set. Speaking of Chess, funniest chess sight I ever witnessed was a couple of geezers in Washington Square park having a fist fight over a game. Nobody got hurt, many folks got amused.

I think it would be very hard to take a game played with these pieces so seriously. I admit, they are ugly in some ways, but quite interesting.
Wish they made a Union Pacific set.
Now, about that warbonnet brick . . .
