Looking at Lionel's 2019 catalog and noticed the SC-2 is no longer listed. Haven't thought about these for some time, but had one fail just recently. Are they now obsolete?

The SC-2 wasn't in the 2018 catalog either. I don't think they're obsolete from an operational standpoint, but, since it was first cataloged in 1998 (and its predecessor, the SC-1, in ~1996), I think it's likely that some of its components may no longer be available or are otherwise difficult to source. In addition, it was basically redundant with the ACS2, although the the SC-2 could handle more switches/accessories, and, for that reason, I like the SC-2 better.
Thanks Keith. I agree with you and will stick with the SC-2 as long as they are still available. I have relatively large layout with 7 SC-2 scattered about it. It would be quite expensive and time consuming to change to ASC-2a.
My L-shaped layout includes 11 K-Line O42 RC switches. I installed 10 of them with their traditional switch controllers at the control panel, and considered buying two SC-2 units some day for switch control via CAB-1. Apparently I postponed "some day" for too long.

The ASC2 is part of the LCS system, so Lionel is pushing that. They're probably not making the SC2 anymore. FWIW, I have a few of them that I'll use on my layout, they're not obsolete here.
I have several lionel ASC 6-14182 I no longer use drop me a e-mail will deal on them
I use them on 4 switches works great.
There is a number of SC-2s new and used on eBay, value of these have gone up, $99.99 used!

Gee, I have half a dozen or so, if the value goes up a bit more, maybe I'll sell them and take a cruise.

Funny - I just picked up 4 for $25 each. Maybe I should consider flipping them! :-)
I'd buy them all day for $25/ea.
Many dealers have SC-2's in stock...
