I am using Scale Coat 2 paint on a project here. I looked all over the web for answers. First up is have you used Scale Coat 1 thinner with the Scale Coat 2 paint to speed drying time? Your results?

Have you used the Scale coat #57 fast dry additive with Scale Coat 2 to make it dry fast? Your results? The web site does not even mention this product. I found some locally.

Using Scale Coat 2 paint with Scale coat 2 thinner it took 4 days for the paint to dry to where I felt it was safe to sand or tape on. I tried the fast dry additive with Scale coat 2 paint AND Scale Coat 1 thinner, and the project is still a bit tacky at 48 hours. I was able to sand it lightly without issue.

I have used SCII paint many times, but only with the SCII Thinner. It always seems to take forever to dry, even when the weather is warm outside. I think it's because of the gloss finish it has, but that's just a guess.

I noticed the same thing with Floquil after I spray the High Gloss or Crystal Cote finish. The flat paint itself dries very fast, but if you want that gloss clear finish, then it takes for ever to lose the tacky wet feel to the paint.
