O-72 is a diameter, so you'd be operating on a 36" radius. That said, if you're using 18" MTH passenger cars, they should work on O-72 using Kadee couplers. Cars longer than that may have problems depending on configuration. What will complicate matters is that passenger cars have their trucks set back a little farther from the end sill of the car, so additional coupler swing is desirable. You might want to use the long-shank Kadee 700 series (#746) for passenger cars and the 740's on the locomotive(s) and head end express cars. The 800 series does not have a long-shank version.

 

If you're retaining the hi-rail wheels, you'll more than likely need shims to get the couplers to the right height.
