Scale steam engines I'd like to see Lionel make next

PRR Q2 and Q1 duplex..

A Santa Fe 2-10-4 in the Vision Line

More scale small and medium Pacifics.  L&N 152, GM&N/BM&R/R&N 425, S&A 750, CP 2317, AT&SF 3415, FEC 148... surely more I'm forgetting.  Why all these behemoths that look silly even on O-72?   These engines could be scale and still run on 0-42 or even O-36.

How about The Legacy Bigboy. They have not made that in quite a while. John

 

 

I'm with Wowak on this one... How about a nice NYC K-Class Pacific?  More NYC Ten Wheelers would be nice (how about a Rutland version?).  Although, I would also like to see an H-10 Mikado...

What am I saying? I must be crazy! I can't afford any of these "new". Let's wait 5 years on those, ok?

My one request is for a USRA Heavy Mikado.  Everyone has made the USRA Light Mike but no heavy.  There were well over 15 railroads that used these engines so lots of potential paint schemes.   The easy part of it for Lionel is that they can use the frame, drive wheels and steam chest from their light Mike, so there would be a nice saving on tooling.

 

The engine should be in full-scale, Legacy with all the "bells and whistles" that can be installed on the engine, and should be "list" priced at under $1,000.

 

Most other prototype engines have already been offered but here's one, and a very popular one at that, that just begs to be modeled.

I would like To se a Reading t-1 it was not done at all with tmcc.

It was one of the first engins with rail sounds.

 It would be nice to see that engin done right weit all the detail.

 It could be done in 4 paint sceams.

Reading ,2101 chessis specail,2101american freadom train and 2124 blue mountain & reading.

 the 2113 was one that the prr leased off rdg.

this would be great engin to see built in legacy.

6) New York Central H-10A/H-10B 2-8-2 Mike.

Any full featured Pennsy that can negotiate 031.

 

My Lionmaster T1 is getting very tired.  For 031 minimum operation it can't be beat for looks, sound and overall operation.

One of these more accurately detailed hudsons. The j3a, but with updated with 4 chuffs legacy etc.

I'd be happier than a possum eatin' a sweet potato if at least ONE of these were made.

 

It's very simple... Just don't use the feature.  It's been dumbed down to the point that the mfg cost to include it is likely very negligible anyway.  I just hope Lionel uses a different engineer's voice on their 2013 locomotives -- or adds a bit of variety at the very least.

3. Reading K-1 2-10-2

 

4. Reading N-1 2-8-8-2. 11 were rebuilt as K1 2-10-2's in 1927.

 

5. Philadelpia & Reading Camelback 4-4-2 No. 1027. She headed the fastest regularly scheduled passenger trains in the world duirng the 1890's on the Atlantic City Railroad. To compete, the Pennsy built duplicates, class E1. That culminated in the E6 Atlantics.

 

6. Bonhomie & Hattiesburg Southern 2-6-2 No. 250. She and her sister 2-8-2 No. 300 were featured in an LP album, Steam Under Thundering Skies. No. 300 rests by the Amtrak station in Hattiesburg. I rode behind No. 250 on the Wanamaker, Kempton & Southern and on the Wolfeboro Railroad in NH.

 

7. Reading & Northern 4-6-2 No. 425 (ex Gulf, Mobile & Northern)

 

8. Great Western / Strasburg Baldwin light 2-10-0 No. 90 (with her Reading whistle)

 

9. William Mason in the B&O Museum in Baltimore. Original paint scheme and as the WANDERER in the movie, Wild Wild West.

 

10. Lehigh Valley 4-8-4 ("Wyoming") No. 5101

I would love to see a E6 Atlantic lettered for the LIRR.

 

It would be nice to see the Consolidations return to the line-up. I am loving small steam these days, eventhough I have the room for the big stuff.

600's on the T&P were 2-10-4's.  That's how they got the TEXAS name!

Cab Forward Southern Pacific w/ all the goodie features of steam whistle effect, new sounds, sequence control, quiling horn etc.

1) the Reading T-1  (with the works)

2) the T&P 2-10-4  (with the works)

 

How about the switcher your modeling Wowak???  Some of us like the smaller steam engines!

Being a fan of the Pennsy,how about a streamlined K4,then an N2,and finally the very rare K5.

A streamlined K4 is long overdue.

I don't think that an N2 has ever been built.

A K5?  Why not.

Maybe 3rd Rail will do the streamlined K4 and N2.  I hope someone does because that will finish my PRR steam roster.

I would like an E6 Atlantic lettered for the Boston and Maine.  I would also buy a 10 wheeler, also in B&M livery.

 

If Lionel ever reissued the B&M Mogul in another cab number, I'd be in for that, too.

3rdRAIL also announced the K5, both versions, but the project was cancelled due to insufficient reservations.

 

I had my reservation in.

New York Central H10 a or b.  Instead of radio communication between engineer and tower would prefer talk between fireman and engineer and maybe the head man.  well detailed! I Like the Legacy slow start.

USRA Heavy Mikado, a workhorse of the first half of the 20th Century's railroading and it will sell.

I would like to see a remake of the NYC 763e from 1997. The Hudson with the Vanderbilt tender. 

 

Yes I know the NYC never had a Vanderbilt tender but I really like that engine.

I like the idea of the Heavy Mikado, here are some others:

 

H-9 Consolidation in NYC and others

Pennsy I-1 Decapod

Pennsy N-1 or N-2 2-10-2

 

I dont recall seeing anything major for the 'P' company in last years catalogs, which means we're probably about due for something major. T-1, I-1, something to that effect that will sell big time. 

By this point they need something to cover all of these blowouts.

 

Personally, I'd love to see a Niagara with all the trimmings.
