I just set up my Lionel K4 6-38044 #5385 It runs fine but the railsounds is crackly and static sounding. the tender has a battery. what could be going on?

You’ll have to open it up and take a look at the speaker, and the related components. Look at the speaker, it’s a giant magnet …..look for debris stuck to it. Look for degradation of the coating if applicable, Look at the connections for corrosion, unseat, and reseat the boards.

Look at the front of the speaker as well. They suck up magnetic debris from the track and it creates a terrible buzzing as the speaker vibrates.
