It is wonderful to be back home and a big hello to all of you Forumites. Waiting on the doorstep when we arrived from Dublin was the fantastic LCCA NS Troop Car and it is truly fabulous. Of course, that car did not break my pledge not to buy any more three rail this year because it was ordered sooo long ago.

What will break my pledge is the new T Motor NYC Lightning Stripe from Sunset/Third Rail.

One of you posted a thread that the loco is due this week and, upon seeing the photo, my hand involuntarily reached for the Card of Life. I have officially broken down. I'm a New York Central nut. My dad worked for the NYC Transit Authority and we saw these down in the South Bronx all the time. OK, Scrapiron has done the deed. Sigh   .  .  .  .  Thanks to Tom's Trains of Ardsley !

I had absolute faith in you, Scher: I knew you would do the right thing.

BTW - that is a very nice loco!

Glad to have you back!

Don't think of it as "caving in."

Instead, congratulate yourself for honoring your father's memory and at last listening to your inner NYC nut.

P.S.: I have a sneaking suspicion that OGR Ad Man will eventually offer to take that T Motor off your hands - just to make you a stronger person, of course

"You can try to get out, but they always pull us back in!  "

Mario . . . . You are correct. I thought I could just make the jump. Being away from the layout for a month proved to me how much I missed it. Yeow, these fantastic trains get in yer blood, ya know? I'm going to have to figure out how to work my narrow gauge in.

This is "gonna be a project."

Scrappy

One thing you can do with narrow gauge is one line with a switch yard and turn table at each end of the line. That saves the wide HO radius turns at each end. It also adds an interesting opration dynamic to your layout.

One line where the train runs backwards in one direction is cool also.

In any case "Scrappy" there are a million ways you can fun with it without having the broken noise O-Gauge gang coming to talk to you.

Great choice Scrappy!!!

I too am waiting on my NYC T motor to arrive but, SIGH... it will be a few more days.  I just spoke with Shawnie at 3rd Rail yesterday and it seems the container is not quite full and they're waiting for a few more items to be packaged and put in "The Big Box" for shipment CONUS.

Said big box due to depart in about 30 days - it'll be worth the wait though!!!!!

Best,

Dave

Eliot,  That is a very handsome engine in the gray scheme.  I am sure that the black unit is also nice.

Scrappy...you are such a weak man...I am so ashamed to know you.. (am ordering one too!!)

Eliot...don't listen to that guy that posted just above me....I am proud of you...what a great locomotive!

Someone now has the opportunity to express their multiple personalities.  LOL Pat B.

Hey Eliot,

For a Bronx kid who lived within shouting distance (we all had good lungs back then ) from the New York Central tracks, it shouldn't have been a question at all.

After all, what is the only letter between S and P in a New York Central fan's alphabet? My shelf is all ready for the new arrival (although it will spend more time on the layout than the shelf).

Wise decision in my opinion Scrappy.

I hope that you have a NYC running session; NYC Lionel Vision Hudson pulling a train of heavyweight cars coming into a station and having the Hudson cutoff and the T Motor couple up and leave the station.  On the adjoining track, a Mohawk or set of black NYC F units running in the opposite direction pulling a train of Pacemaker boxcars.

I bet Skip would like that.  I certainly would.

Steve
