Railroad Model Craftsman did a series in the 90s that each issue had the details, history, and drawings for a freight car.

Also the NMRA has archives with drawings.

And there are Car Builders Cyclopedias that would have prototype drawings.

RMC has drawings of locos and freight cars we'll befor the 1990's and well into this new century!

I'm convinced that RMC has almost all the North American freight car/ passenger car/ locomotives. The only exception I have found so far are some Canadian models such as the LRC and M425

I want to build a few freight cars for my railroad.  Where do I find dimensional drawings to use for scale reference?

Any help is appreciated.

If you could tell everyone specifically what you are wanting to build, they may have some equally specific knowledge of plans or location of the same.
