I am in the process of installing Atlas O 3-rail track over 3/8" Hobby Inovations  FLEXXBED using Atlas O Gauge item #6094 screws.  The Atlas screws are 3/4" and I believe are considered a #1 screw as screw sizes go.  PROBLEM is due to thickness of roadbed/track, the screw barely goes into the plywood causing concern that they will work out of the plywood eventually.  I need an 1" screw same diameter as the Atlas BUT cannot find one locally or online to date.  I've been told that 3/4" is the longest #1 screw available. The Atlas also is Black, which I prefer but can use if not black.

ANYONE out there that has secured ATLAS O track with 3/8" FLEXBED whom can tell me what screw they used and/or direct me to a source for a useable screw???  Your response greatly appreciated. Than you.

Best I can remember was, we used the Gargraves Track Screws. However, we glued ALL the Flexxbed down to the plywood first, than came back days later and glued/screwed the track (Atlas solid nickel silver) to the Flexxbed. Then, days later, all the screws were removed in order to have it all as quiet as possible when trains are operating. We used nothing but TightBond Professional Wood Glue on the whole layout construction.

Craig. Actually, IMO opinion, you really don't want the screws going into the plywood at all-it helps eliminate one source of noise transmission. The screw just going into the Flexed should be enough to hold the track in position.

My own layout is Atlas"O" over Woodland Scenics foam bed; I have no screws holding any track down. I just have the foam roadbed glued to the table top using Woodland Scenics glue (allows re-use of the foam roadbed if you take care in removal...). On top of the foam roadbed is my Atlas"O" track and it is held to the foam by the 50/50 matte medium/water mix used to glue my ballast in place. I've had no issues with "track-walk" since installation.

HOTWATER, D&D65, ROMILLER, DOMINIC, Joe  A.,   Greatly appreciate all replys.  I am not gluing the FLEXXBED or track but may ballast later after testing all mains etc.  Atlas track appears to be quiet without the FLEXXBED  therefore I'm not sure screws will carry much noise to the plywood??  Will check out the Gargraves screws at York.   Still looking hopefully for a longer black oxide screw.
