Members of the Standard Gauge Module Association (SGMA) will be setting up and operating one of our award winning Standard Gauge layouts at Trainfest 2014 this weekend, November 8-9, in Milwaukee.  As always, SGMA members look forward to making our Trainfest layout available to anyone who wants to operate their own Standard Gauge trains on the SGMA mainlines, which could well be the largest Standard Gauge layout on which their trains may ever run.   But even if you don't have any Standard Gauge trains you want to run, stop by the SGMA layout anyway, say 'HI', and talk "trains" with any member!

Trainfest Show Dates/Times:

Wisconsin Exposition Center at Wisconsin State Fair Park

PS.  I should mention that Trainfest 2014 is scheduled to be largest Trainfest ever with so many operating layouts (over 80), in all gauges that the show has had to expand into a second building.  It's going to be GREAT!

It was a pleasure to meet Bob and a few of the SGMA members today.

Dad and I were able to have Bob bring out the Goliath for it's inaugural run today. He said he wasn't running it until Sunday but brought it out today. This was no easy feat as it was still sealed in it shipping fixture. This is a very impressive set that I was happy to see in person. Thanks to Bob and the rest of the SGMA crew for the effort getting the massive set out of the box and for being such cordial hosts.

Bill,

Thanks for all the kind words.  It was my pleasure to fulfill your request.  As you know it was a significant task unpacking the Goliath (Brute) and its three Showroom passenger cars for their maiden run but well worth the effort.  As you saw the Goliath is huge but as you also saw it ran flawlessly on SGMA's outside mainline (STD87).  In fact, it is so smooth running and quite that it's just like the actual BiPolars in operation.  And it is powerful too pulling with ease not only the Showroom passenger cars but later a lengthy circus train with at least fifteen 200 series circus cars.

It was also a pleasure to welcome LCCA President Dennis DeVito to the SGMA layout.  He is manning the adjacent LCCA booth at Trainfest.  He came by to see for his first time the Goliath in action.  Needless to say he was proud of the LCCA's biggest tinplate train and awestruck at it whisper quite operation!

That Goliath circus train will again be running today, Sunday, November 9th, so if you missed it on Saturday, come by and see it making history today!  And bring your own Standard Gauge trains to run on the SGMA layout too!
