Shelving surprise, for me, anyway.....  Had a tenant leave behind 6 boxes of brand new oak flooring.  Thought I might be able to use it for train display shelving.  Opened up a box today and discovered that the underside has two grooves in it 1 3/8 inches apart (to outer edge) which allows an O scale truck to fit perfectly.  Maybe this is old news, but it sure saves me a bundle of $$$.  A little stain or paint and I think it will work out.

Keeping the finished side up and visible is tempting.  Also thinking about building a frame with the good side out, cut off the tongue, cutting some kerfs in the vertical sides and just slide the planks in.  Length will determine how that will work out.  Lord knows I have plenty of flooring to experiment with!  When I got into this hobby 7 months ago I did not realize I would be acquiring so many trains and would need decent storage and display space so soon!
