Great, Chris! Where do you mostly get your trains? I have not seen any B&O F3's or Milwaukee GP's at any local shows.

The postwar stuff I have had for ages were all bought at shows & local hobby shops. I would say the majority of the postwar stuff I get is bought on eBay. There are not really any hobby shops near me. Couple that with the lack of time I have & eBay is just easier
The extent of my Postwar locomotive 'collection', a 624 and a 2056. Both good runners although the 2056 doesn't look great it runs great, cleaned, lubed, repaired etc.

pennsy that 2056 looks great. that's the way I like my trains. just imagine all the joy the child had putting all those scratches there!
TrainRMe: Great photos as usual! How many locomotives do you have in your collection?
Wood: Thanks for the information. I may give it a try.
Dave: Nice engines! They are very similar to the ones I posted.
Lionmaster: Thanks for the kind words. I believe that without duplicating what some other folks have posted, that that's about it for my postwar, aside from some custom jobs.
You've had good response to your thread, and it's been very enjoyable seeing all this old iron.
TrainsRMe: No problem! I may post some more pictures later this evening. I may also be going to a train show in Wichita, KS tomorrow, and if so I will put up some pictures.
Nice collection, John!
Munster...love it!
Trains...speaking for myself,I'd love to "see more of the same" and definatly the customs jobs!

One of the most enjoyable facets of the hobby for me has been resuscitating decrepit pieces by either customizing or restoring as close to original as possible. The Marx E7 plastic diesel is one of my favorite engines, and the common 1095 (pictured first) has provided me with several custom projects, as below.

very nice! I'm the guy at the show on the floor going thru the junk boxes.
That's where the interesting stuff and the bargains are found!
Bought a 2037 steamer at the Wichita Toy Train Show. Pictures will be posted.
great! I got a 2037 shell in one of mt junk boxes, and rebuilt it back up.
Cool! Have any pictures? What all did you get in the boxes?
I'll have to take some. I got an ebay junk box. It had the manditory 3 0r 4 busted SP cabooses, the 2037 shell, misc track, and some other parts. IIRC, I rebuilt or used about 90% of the stuff.
Steamer, junk lots are great fun. Charles Siegel's ChooChooAuctions.com used to offer "end of collection" lots and I've bought several. What a boon for us junkmeisters!
Lionmaster, congratulations on the new addition. I'm sure you'll give it a good home.
Thanks! I'm having a problem with it though. I ran it around several times earlier, and everything was fine. I stopped it, and came back later to run it. It immediately started making loud screeching noises. I oiled everything that needed to be, and got the same results.
Postwar Kusan Trains
L I Train that Rio Grande is nice thanks for the videos.
Bill T never paid much attention to Kusan but they did make some good looking rolling stock.
Here's my postwar addiction, finding them at garage sales, yard sales or estate sales.
Then cleaning them up and running them.
I found this on one of boxes that I picked up. Ownership transfer!
The king of postwar!

here's some of my junkbox rebuilds.
2037 came in an e bay box, and the tender was a $1 at a train show
1664 was found as a bare shell(as all these were) at a local flea market. I changed it to a 2-6-2
the Postwar 1666 shell was in the same box as my 225E shell,1666 tender and slobe back tender(both complete)
224E was in a box at a show
my gunmetal 225E along with my home made Vanderbilt tender, with three axle Prewar trucks
a 4-8-4 project made from two bad 1666 shells

I can see you have a lot of fun, Dave. Good work.
yes I do and thanks! I could probably find these same engines complete, and maybe for a comparable price, but I have plenty of ready to run trains, and I love bringing the junkers back. This is my P Company Diner I made from a junk 1630 body, some scrap material, and a 442 Diner base pattern from a fourm member.

love all thos boxes!
Great pictures, everyone! Dave, could post updates on your 4-8-4 project? It looks really good! Much better than I could do!
that picture was taken today, so that's where it sits. There aren't many shows around here, and the few that are I usually miss by working 21 turn, so I haven't been able to gather parts.
and don't sell yourself short, all I did was cut the bad ends off of two shells, and put them together. Give it a try. If you mess up, all you've messed up is junk parts anyway!
Nice, TrainsRMe! I still haven't found out what the loud noise is onn my 2037. It sounds like metal grinding metal.
Lionmaster, I hope I'm not insulting your intelligence or competence, but has the armature shaft received a drop of oil? High-pitched squealing on postwar sounds like that, to me. Perhaps posting this problem in a thread by itself would attract help from the repair guys who may not be reading this thread, eh?
Here is a Marx 666 custom painted and with a Lionel tender equipped with scale trucks but Lionel fast angle wheels. I painted it up to run the Lionel 2400-02 green coaches. Also, a couple Lionel operating cars.

Trains that 666 looks fantastic! might have to pick up another one to do that myslef. What paints did you use?
Lionmaster I was thinking the same thing about the armature. The thing about the internet and some avaitar pics we just don't know who the person really is. I have over 20 Pre and Postwar steamers. Out of that number, only my 675 with the sintered wheels does the squeeling noise you describe. I oiled it like normal, and it still did it. I pulled the shell and made sure to do both ends, a tad bit excessive since the engine looked like it had spent some time in a damp basement, and it stopped and has never done it again.
TrainRMe
Nice paint job. Did you do it yourself?
Al
Well thanks for the kind words, gents. I did do the work myself and, it is Humbrol enamel brushed on. The gold bands on the domes I made by painting the domes gold, then masking off the 1/16" line when painting the green. It was done years ago and I was thrilled with the results. I don't recall what I used for the clear flat overspray, but probably Testor's.
I mixed the paint myself, so there is no paint stock number to give out.
