Let's see some of your postwar trains. Here are a couple of mine. I apologize for the poor quality of the pictures. I am using my cell phone and hopefully plan to build a bigger layout in the near future.

I have two post war trains.  The first is a Lionel #2055 Hudson.  My grandfather bought it for me brand new in 1954.  Since then I have had the motor refurbished and I had it repainted.  It is now in the livery of the Brisbane & Bushong Railroad. It runs like a champ.  Grandpa also bought me an NYC gondola, a Leigh High hopper, a Sunoco tank car and an SP caboose to go with it.  When I was a boy, a neighbor kid gave me the remnants of another Lionel train set.  All that was left was a broken Lionel #1130 Scout locomotive, a PRR Baby Ruth box car, a Lionel Lines gondola and a Lionel Lines caboose.  I had the scout refurbished and put in the Southern Pacific roadname.  It still runs well.  Today, I use the Hudson to pull my Polar Express passenger cars around the Christmas tree.  Matt

Amazing photos Edward! Nice layout! I as well have a 2055 and 1130. I have thought about re-lettering my a Lionel Lines tender for the Union Pacific.

Lionmaster, you asked if I'd thought of selling my 2046. To be honest, I have, but I think I am still too "emotionally attached" to it. It was one of the premier locomotives on my large "Dallas Penn Station" of the 1980's. It even made the cover of the LOTS publication, THE SWITCHER once back then.

I also experimented with it in trying to make photos of a steam locomotive at speed. I greased the wheels and rails, weighted it down with so many cars it could not move, and set a fan blowing back to try to make the smoke blow back across the train. then I took a time exposure.

The results were better with my 675, though.

So, I just don't think I can let it go yet.

I understand. There are trains that I am emotionally attached to as well. I will look on Ebay and see what's for sale. Cool time exposures, by the way.

Here are few shots of my current postwar inspired ( in keeping w/ the current Lionel moniker!) department display layout.  Mix of original & PWC stuff -

Thanks!

it's 10 x 6 & the upper level is 6 x 3. there is also a little add on which is about 2 x 2 on the left hand side of the layout - this has the coal loader & milk car on them

Awesome! I am hoping to build a bigger layout in the future, so a 10x6 would probably be the biggest I could go.
