In 1939, The Silver Meteor, it is reported, followed a special route, starting from the World's Fair in Flushing, NY to Miami. What powered the train on the LIRR from Flushing to Penn Station? Was it a DD1 with outside third rail capability? Did the train have a Diesel locomotive that pulled it to, say, Woodside?
