I just had a problem with a brand new engine. My DCS system was locking up and the engine seemed to be causing it. whenever it was in a block with other engines, it stole the signal from them. Alone it was fine. Off the track and others were fine. On the track at power on and others started up! I was about to rip out all the wiring to try and improve signal. Raymond Manley suggested I try breaking in the slider shoes on the G scale engine. I would have thought he was crazy but what else could I do?

It worked. Don't ask me how. He said they can have high resistance? The system was still trying to communicate with this engine when I thought it could not reach the others. Well I'll be ......

I keep learning.
