I am taking an informal but possibly helpful poll for a possible solution to the J stripe issue. I am looking for a solution that is helpful to all. While not the best solution it may be one that both Lionel could accomplish and we could live with for now. I will ask Alan Arnold to delete this if it gets off topic. Please include in your answer if you own the models in question.
Without comment, just yes or no, would you be willing to wait for the next run of Lionel Js, possibly 4 years average time between releases, for a corrected stripe? While it maybe uneconomical for Lionel to redo a small amount of shells for those of us that do not like the brighter red stripe at this time, we all know that this engine will be rerun in the future. If Lionel would promise new shells in the next run for us, would you be willing to wait? This of course assumes they use the same tooling and goes back to the previous stripe color. The thought is they would make X amount of extra shells for those of us that request it. We would return our locomotives to them for shell swap, maybe get a "free tune up" in the process.
I know this will be hard not to comment on but I am really just looking for a yes or no. It may take time but if they would do this would it be worth the wait? I am just seeing if there is an interest, if Lionel might consider this as a solution.
I would say YES. I have purchased the Spirit of Roanoke version.
