The roof on the building is a sheet of 1/8 material painted black then with the paint still wet spread fine ballast and let dry.  I then added scenic cement and more ballast to cover the bare spots.   The pump cover is just painted white then rub with my finger powdered pigment to look dirty .

Very nice work, excellent job, I am sure this is going to look great on your layout.

finding a picture on line of a 1980s Cumberland farms gas pump and not current gas pump was a challenge.  Most pictures are current and a different decoration.  Cars are earlier and were  from my layout which is 1960 ish.

I will definitely have to share this with my sister! She tells me Mister Donut is a fallen flag.

Get some modern cars, a normal and recycle dumpster out back and a lot of trash scattered out back as well, and you'll have done it perfectly.

there are all ways lots of details to add when it is in place,  pavement, parking stripes, sidewalks, grass and bushes, milk crates, dumpsters, trash as you said, rats, trash cans, pallets etc.   Cars do set the time period and on this model the gas pumps are NOT 1960s.   For the picture I do not have any modern era cars or trucks.   I did use some great 3d printed dumpsters years ago but can not remember who i got them from.

Can't wait to see this in its finished state on a layout!

Your Models are terrific. Going back in time a little I built a village and city street from before they built shopping centers. Circa 1950's, The posters on the Alexis Theater are Postage Stamps.

I like how your building fronts are not any kit I reconize.   Are they based on existing buildings?   Either way they look great.

I wanted to share the changes to the signs and added details.   I raised the roof above the gas pumps to a scale 14 ft.   Added the Diesel pumps, cover and lights.  Added trash bins by the pumps.  Changed the pizza name and image.  Changed the Mister Donut signs to all the same colors and made the man a lot larger.   Added the other business names to the free standing gas sign.  Changed the wording and logo placement on the gas pump cover.  All the signs were made using photo shop, word and printed on glossy photo paper.  They are then put in place using 2" double stick tape.  Removed the safety post from in front of the store.

This really is a great take on such a ubiquitous retail space in a small footprint that is so familiar to all of us.  Fantastic.

This can also be made smaller with a single store,   only one or two pumps for a smaller layout.

The gasoline prices seem unusual, unless they are shown differently in other parts of the country. Around my neck of the woods it would show as  2.04 9/10, not 204.9.

The gas prices are only because that was the best image I could find for the gas price sign.   It did not come with the store name image from above.   The layout is based on around 1980 so to be more accurate I would have to go back and find the much lower prices.   the sign would probably been the metal or plastic numbers they used to use.   The gas pump cover and gas pumps are also  more modern.   lets call it artistic license.
