So everyone knows how small the bottle of smoke fluid is that is supplied with new locomotives.  And new bottles are not much bigger and pricey for their size.  While using the Lionel smoke fluid that came with my LC+ A5 and LC+ GP-7, I inevitably always get some on my fingers.  It's very oily and rather heavy, at that.

For my Large Scale trains I use clear lamp oil.  It has worked well for me in both the Seuthe and fan driven smoke units.  I know some members have cautioned against it's use.  I don't see the danger of fire, but am I missing something ?

We have had a lot of questions lately about smoke fluid.  Since this question has been answered as to the flash point and thus possible fire danger of using lamp oil, I will close this thread.  Any further questions about smoke fluids can be found by using our search function.... Thanks Dan for your understanding...
