Weaver Models spanned over 50 years of Mfg O scale trains. What did you miss out on that you will now hunt down for your collection? For me it's the:

  • PRR 40' Flat Cars
  • PRR Low woodsided Gondolas U26001 & U26002
  • PRR B60 RPO [even though faux]
  • Brass Sanding tower
  • O scale telephone/signal poles

I am on the fence for the following:

  • Conrail high sided hopper U4925- numbers were off

The ICG orange/gray GP38 I would buy.

But -

I'm one of those that when I heard "Weaver", I often as not thought "brass steam" - so much of their brass is on the list, depending on what and how much it is - and my mood.

It shows up often, and I find much of it appealing, but I have enough stuff.

Through luck and not sense (I didn't know they were closing), a few months ago I

finally found an unlettered 2-8-0.  I had passed them up when first offered as most

were eastern roadnames, and I thought they'd do another run of western ones...didn't

happen.  I would buy another of those if it surfaced.   I don't think Weaver did

drop bottom gons, which is the one car I was hunting for a while.  They had other

steamers and cars: most steamers were eastern, only occasional cars western, so

I didn't buy much.  I had helped a friend get a set of the Weaver Pennsy E-8's when

they were big news, but nothing after that seemed to generate as much interest, except for the 2-8-0.

Yes, Weaver did make a ps2 covered Hopper for GE Lamps. Originally a one shot special white box kit and a r-t-r black box reissue. I don't know if there were multiple road numbers for the black box reissue.

Hi Scott,

If you are looking for the NS Wood Chip hoppers I would give Stockyard Express a call. The last I heard they had a few of them left. Phone is 440-774-2131

Was that the Proto-1 version? There are lots and lots of those around and little demand because of the out of date electronics. On the other hand, the TMCC version is seldom seen and brings $6-700 in excellent or better condition. The TMCC version also has a Mars light, which was added to the prototype at some point.

MTH made some drop bottom gons. A friend of mine has a ton of UP for sale.

Passenger Train Collector,

Brian there is nothing on your Weaver acquisition list, because you already own the Weaver Masonic Train!  Time to consider picking up another Weaver Masonic Train to run the Double Header Masonic Train with Dual cabooses!  I made a deal just recently to due exactly this.   As Andy indicates the Apache Powder Box Car is in my search pattern also.

Wagontop boxcars in 3 rail are tough to find.  I would like some more of them.  I wouldn't mind a 3 rail version of one of their Brass Lackawanna cabooses.  They seem impossible though.

If anyone ever runs across some P718 Bettendorf Truck and coupler sets let me know!

I think they made some pretty nice models that I enjoy very much.

If you call Weaver, Joe may still have some trucks left. Folks who were buying rolling stock on Saturday were getting trucks and screws separate to install buy purchaser.
