The MTH Sinclair small refinery. Completely missed it. A forum member posted a photo of it a few years back and I've never seen one for sale on eBay.
These babies.
The Lionel 6-14000 reissue of the forklift loader. I have been close many times but have never quite been able to catch it!
Long Island Railroad C-420s, RS1, RS3, C-Liners
I've been fortunate to find the few items which would be considered personal holy grails of the hobby.
For the past year I've been trying to find a few Lionel 6-27515 flatcars in order to create a string of tanks on flatcars but have only been able to find one.
If anyone has one and would like to sell please let me know.
I would still like to get one of these. Can't justify $300 for a reproduction.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
MTH Premier SD70ACE in BNSF with 2-rail/fixed pilot.
Never seen on ebay or anywhere else.
I guess it depends how I interpret "elusive." I have had a list of locos-I-must-have and, as of now, there are none on the list that have been produced that I do not have or have not ordered, except the Virginian AE class 2-10-10-2, which I could order from 3rd Rail (thinking about that).
But four are elusive, four that I want badly that, as far as I know, have not been made in O scale at least - all scale please
Soviet AA20-1 -- the only 4-14-4 ever made
Diecast (not tinplate) Gresley A4 and A3 Pacifics
Chapelon's 242.A - his "hot-rodded" 241.A
The MTH railroaders club "purple comet" 4 car passenger set and the one add-on car. I'm pretty sure the production numbers on these are very low. I imagine the only people who would have ordered them are people who joined the Club and also ordered the club-exclusive 400e engine.
A friend has these nib. Maybe one day, after searching for these myself, I'll see if he wants to part with them. In the meantime, the hunt is pretty fun!
I'd also like one of these:
Occasionally one comes up on Ebay, but they go for beaucoup bucks. Either that or there was a seller in San Francisco who had several incomplete sets. He had one set with no track. Good luck finding track for it!
I have yet to find a nice scale Quonset hut, although I admit I haven't looked lately.
I missed the first run of MTH's SD70ACes all together. I wanted the Demo and CSX at least. I actually had ordered one CSX fixed pilot, and never got it.
So now I'm casting pilots and converting what I could find. I bet when I'm done, MTH will re-release them with PS3!
No train really elusive for me. About the only thing elusive is money.
Hmmm, now that you mention it (or CSX)
Atlas O Conrail MP15 Powered & non- powered unit
Another opportunity for me to whine about no Lionel scale F-M 5 axle C-Liner.
I missed the first run of MTH's SD70ACes all together.
NOTHING IS HARD TO FIND OR GET EXCEPT MONEY TO BUY THE ITEMS-
Hey Matt:
There is a gentleman I have seen at Edison shows - I believe it's Stans Tanks??? He had quite a beautiful display of tanks / tank farms, some in the Sinclair (my favorite)livery.
Maybe some other forum member can help verify the name. I seem to remember seeing him at York as well but that would have been a few years back.
Let me look in my file and see if I kept his card.

Uh, no.
K-Line K-010503 globe street lamps. Need at least 4 pairs.
This is becoming a snipe hunt.

Atlas FURX SD-40
Nothing, really. All my stuff usually is right where I left it.

Blue Comet Stationsounds Diner!
Paul:
He lives in Pennsylvania. When I needed an add-on from him, I called Debbie of the Eastern Division of the TCA who hooked me up with his contact information. Nice guy and does beautiful work.
Don't know if one has ever been made, but if so would love to have one:
BNSF SD50 MTH Premier (or Lionel or RailKing Scale or Imperial)
Found this one a time or 2, but too expensive for me!
BNSF Genset Lionel with the 3 smoking stacks that alternate with load.
May end up with MTH version someday, which would be very nice also, but Lionel smoke stack feature is pretty neat.
No train really elusive for me. About the only thing elusive is money.
Dave hit the nail on the head for us too!
As far as an elusive item for me personally it was a matching single A unit Atlas GM&O F3 that I looked for about 3 - 3 years. There were no single A units to go with the one I had bought here several years ago. I don't remember who I obtained it from or why he only had a dummy. Just a few months ago I was able to buy a cab from Atlas (they didn't have them either at the time) and put it on an Atlas powered chassis I had in A.T.&S.F.
Had no idea it would be so difficult to find!
They sure are pretty however...
A couple of Marx items, that can be found, but that I balk at the prices on....
Lionel compatible items include a long list of steam era prototypes that have never been made, and reciting them here would be repetitious.
Matt, out of curiosity I went to the MTH website and checked for this item - 30-9010 Sinclair Refinery. Up popped a Hobby Shop in Kentucky which indicated that it was in stock. I called to be sure and didn't get an answer but left my telephone number. They returned my call about 10 minutes ago and informed me someone had purchased it about two hours ago..... I hope it was you....

Only been back in the hobby for 2 years, so nothing that I desperately need....
But would love to get my hands on a Natty Boh boxcar, Santa Fe midnight chief passenger cars by K-line, and a RF&P loco and passenger cars.
Two categories for me:
1. Items Made: I got lucky last year and completed my hat trick of Gold Plated Engines. A GG1, Hudson, and F3 otherwise known as Electric, Steam & Diesel. The F3AA was the only one that was hard to find.
2. Wishing to be made: Scale 44 Tonner w DCS, SP / SF Kodachrome merger Livery. Atlas made a very nice model but I would like to see MTH step to the plate for this item as well.
Good point Brian, I don't utilize the TCA HQ resource as much as I should. Hopefully that will help Matt.
all the best,
Paul

Love your gold plated editions. Merry Christmas, it was a real pleasure meeting the two of you at Captain John's in November. You have to get up to Maine one of these days.
A postwar Lionel 2026 with Baldwin disc drivers. Greenberg states that this is scarce, but he only puts a $35. premium on a Exc. example. I've looked at York as well as eBay for 5 years with no luck. The "hunt" makes York visits more fun, since there is nothing else I'm looking for.
It's more a matter of being willing to pony up the money for a shelf piece, but mine is still - since I discovered the thing from photos in the 1950's - the original, 1930's, 700e, 5344, J1e NYC Hudson. I just saw two of them today on the Bay, one really outstanding, and the guy said "contact me for direct sale" and I......didn't. They disappeared.
Cherry condition is not necessary, but nice is. You can have all the PW F3's you want; that 4-6-4 remains The Thing. Not that I don't have a pile of modern NYC Hudsons - all actually
better runners than the 700e could ever be - but, still.
mine was, the mth 30-1488 Santa Fe Hiawatha Hudson Steam Engine,i found one at last on ebay last week, have been looking for it for several years,,,i would post a pix,but it's in the box under then Christmas tree,,,,,,,merry to me! terry
Ives 1708 Cattle Car. I almost had one, but the bidding just went too high.
