#1.  Third Rail, "Early Challenger." Union Pacific.   Love this engine.

Lionel (Union Pacific):

#2.  H-7 TMCC or Legacy (I know, Legacy are in production, but I'll wait for the year end 'close outs').  Irony is this is the engine that brought me back to the hobby....!

#3.  Challenger #3985, 6-28064 (deal pending).

#4   Grey Challenger (VL or TMCC).  Waiting on the right deal to come along.

Grey FEF #844.

Black FEF #844.

4-12-2 #9000.

Vision Line Challenger, 3989 coal fired.

Big Boy.

Oh, one other thing:  Lionel work out your issues with vendors and start selling Legacy Systems again!   I am tired of waiting like everyone else!

I don't think I've seen this accessory before.  Pretty neat in that there is a lot of detail packed into such a small footprint.

My elusive quarry, would be the 2 car SGL Reading set to match these:

Although I have more that a few elusive toy trains that I have missed over the last 10 years it is not participating in the historic Real Road (1:1) rally that began shortly after Y2k that has become most regrettable for me. Most frustrating over years was that I actually knew they were better bargains at the same time I was scurrying under the grandstands buying forward Proto 1s.

For me it was this caboose.  Passed on it when it first came out because NOT prototypical.  In fact one of the large local toy train dealers did not get any because it was not prototypical.

But after I bought the MTH DAP NS OCS set thought would look good with it.  Took me over 1 1/2-years to find. Found at show for $40.00 but will not go into that story..

Also called them. Unfortunately, someone beat me to it.

That is REALLY neat! Who made it?

i suppose it's not that obvious... American Flyer, Hummer type, but one of the very few non-steam clockwork locomotives by anyone.

on the bright side, a few years ago i did manage to snag another similar piece that had been on my list for just as long...

Dorfan 99-100 & pullman

taking a page from Flyer's screwy numbering system, though marked 99-100, this small clockwork locomotive was cataloged as No. 145.  with a single coach, Dorfan set #99 pictured included four curved track sections and retailed for $1.00 in 1925.

I was an American Flyer kid, and I only had two locos before I went HO: A 290, and a 354 Silver Bullet, both Pacifics.  The engines I craved were the 336 "Challenger" 4-8-4, an engine I still consider to be the most attractive toy-train steamer of the Golden Age, and the A-B-A 470/71 Santa Fe PA1, a model of one of the best looking passenger diesels of all time.

First time I saw a FM "Trainmaster" diesel, in the Lionel showroom, I thought it was awesome, but by then I had gone HO and was building Varney and Mantua kits to get my train fix.

It looks like the photo I attached didn't make it. I was referring to the MTH Premier Amtrak Genesis in Phase 5 "Wave" paint scheme.

I really would like to find the Lionel Vision Line tank cars. They don't even have to be new. I don't need the boxes. They can be scratched a bit. they just have to work. I don't even care if they were repainted. I also am willing to pay asking price.  I just can not find them.

My wife has been searching for years for them For me.

Details?  I really like this also.

MTH announced several new models of the UP 7000/7850 class 4-8-2 Mountains in the 2010 Vol.2 catalog.  Must not have been enough pre-orders. They cancelled production.
Boo.  O54 mininum.  Too bad. I've been waiting for a nice medium/small steamer for inner loops.  I already have plenty sizes extra big articulateds/rigids or extra small switchers.

more info here on what never was:
