I have an old (1993-94) GP7 diesel that I'd like to upgrade for sound beyond the horn. Is there a fix for that? Lionel 6-18513.

Thanks.
The ERR RailSounds Commander kit will give you full sound.
In addition to ERR, if you go wireless, there are a number of systems available that can provide great sounds.

You can really go wireless with a Pulmore motor? I'll bet those batteries don't last long. Why in the world do you think that battery power is the answer to every question, even when it doesn't fit the application?
I have successfully tested a Lionel universal motor loco with wireless. I did have to use that bridge rectifier circuit so the universal motor rotation would respond to direction control. I did not use battery power, just track power.

And because you tinkered with the idea, you think it's the solution to all problems? He has a working locomotive, he just wants to improve the sound. Please stop beating the drum for wireless every chance you get, even when it isn't an appropriate solution. Battery power and a totally different control system isn't the answer for everyone.

The other side is the space - after the cab the GP is pretty narrow - not bad for a sound board - But - sometimes a bit tricky with the fat boy speaker and enclose . I did a Williams katy - err - cruise with sound board and fat boy and speaker enclosure. Just made it width wise for the boards .
A MpC with ac commander and sound - I opted to use the original speaker in the fuel tank
I upgraded my MPC PC GP 7 to full tmcc with full sound. Plenty of room. Boards fit flat speaker goes on it’s side.
I know - but still needs planing I don’t personally like sticking heat sinks sideways. Which, I’m not saying is the case with the geeps - because it been a while. I must have upgraded like 40. The Williams katy was a just make it- considering the size of the engin. You would think you had more room.
The ERR AC Commander fits inside the shell of the GP7 in the normal position.
I was talking about full command upgrade and sound. That consideration needs to be given to the speaker. Especially on some early Geeps that did not come with sound in the powered unit. They did not have the speaker grill fuel tank. Also, the metal chassis frame is intact above the fuel tank. The dummy for those units did come with a speaker fuel tank. The sound may have been an option.
I just like to do the cleanest looking install with the speaker being in an appropriate location for full sound quality.
