Matt & Joe,
I am not sure if Protocraft is making O-Scale trucks anymore. They seem to be exhausting their In-Stock O-Scale trucks & they are only restocking the Proto-48 trucks. I used to buy their O-Scale trucks when I converted my Lionel Husky stack cars to 2-rail but I contacted Norm 2 years ago & also talked with him at last year’s Chicago O-Scale meet & it didn’t look like he will be restocking O-Scale trucks.
I agree with Joe that these were the smoothest rolling trucks I had ever experienced & were the easiest replacement for Lionel freight cars but I have moved on to Atlas trucks for my Lionel Auto-Rack conversions even though Protocraft still have a few O-Scale 70-ton trucks in stock. I am only converting a couple of cars at a time & I didn’t want to have to switch trucks if Protocraft ran out of their current stock.
I guess with Atlas upgrading their 2-rail freight car trucks with narrower side frames & also Bill Davis (American O-Scale models) introducing unpainted O-Scale freight car trucks, both at a lesser price than Protocraft trucks might have reduced the demand for Protocraft trucks.
These are just my opinion,
Thanks,
Naveen Rajan
