Assuming you mean TWO tracks, I would recommend 5" center rail to center rail spacing. That's why I used, and I run all the biggest articulateds and 21" scale passenger cars, with no worries at all.
thanks hot water as you can tell i haven't taken the spelling or grammar for marines yet and most likey won't. 5" sounds good i just haven't gotten any switch's yet, im just trying to figure out spacing. Also do you go another 5" to the side on the curves? I plan on have rock walls and i don't want them to be to far away and take away from the look.

I'll have to go up-stairs tomorrow and measure that. I don't know what we allowed on the outside of 080 or 090 curves for the large locomotives. I'll try to post measurements tomorrow.
By the way, our Daughter's husband is Former Marine. Thanks a bunch for your continued service. I was only in the Army, some 46 years ago.
Former Marine, never heard of one those. I only know Marines. Now back to trains 080 and 090 should be good ill just have to add a inch or so i only have 072. Also thank you for service as well.
OK Nate, here are some measurements for either inside of curves or outside of curves:
1) Scenery low to the track level, i.e. not more than 1/2" above rail read = 2 1/2" from center rail.
2) Scenery items like fences, train order boards, etc. = at lest 4" from center rail.
3) Buildings, trees, etc. = at least 5' from center rail.
Hope this helps a bit.
Thank you hot water that is going to help me alot.
