Thanks, Don.  I loved the video and am just a bit jealous of those who have preserved those wonderful memories of Christmas's past on film.  For whatever reason, I do not have any photos of me or my dad with our first train set at Christmas in the mid '70's or late '40's, respectively.  However, I do have both train sets and the chance to get good photos of my daughter playing with her first train set as well as mine.

Merry Christmas to all forum members!

Beautifully done!!! This video says it all. Anybody who doesn't understand why we oldsters so enjoy our toy trains should see this. All of the elements are there....fathers, sons, toys, the sense of wonder and horizons to conquer, miniature worlds of our own and the flat out joy of playing without a care in the world. Just very nicely done!

Thank you, Don! And, Merry Christmas to you!!!!

Don,

Gosh, you had me all choked up by the "When I was a boy" intro to the song and when it got to the "I played with trains", you had me good. (And, considering I was a little girl who played with trains, that's something :-)  Then it moved on through its wonderful photo journey.  Some names were familiar, some not, but the feeling and instant, warm recognition were there regardless.

I love the song, so simple, yet it evokes so much.  Just as the photos do.

Thank-you so much for your considerable time and talents putting togethervthis great piece.

Happy Holidays Don, Rich, and fellow Forumites!

jinis, I will post it for you on the regular forum. What was amazing about the footage was the smiles and good times. It wasn't before WW2 it was shot December 24, Christmas Eve right after the war started. I don't think any of these folks knew what we were in for at the time. The tall man with no hair was little Mikes father. He didn't make it a year after these films were shot. Don

I will post it for you now 4:15 Hawaii time.
