Such a simpler time. Thank you Don.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
MERRY CHRISTMAS Don!!!
Thanks, Don. I loved the video and am just a bit jealous of those who have preserved those wonderful memories of Christmas's past on film. For whatever reason, I do not have any photos of me or my dad with our first train set at Christmas in the mid '70's or late '40's, respectively. However, I do have both train sets and the chance to get good photos of my daughter playing with her first train set as well as mine.
Merry Christmas to all forum members!
Absolutely fantastic! Thanks, Don.
Mery Christmas, everyone!

I don't either, only in my case it would have been about 1953.
Wonderful! Thanks Don! And Merry Christmas everyone!
Andy
Lovely and moving. Thanks!
Very nice and meaningful. I have a few early photos but lost a bunch in our house fire. My earliest is 1937 Xmas.
Just beautiful!!!!!
Alex
Thank you for sharing this with us. Merry Christmas!

Beautifully done!!! This video says it all. Anybody who doesn't understand why we oldsters so enjoy our toy trains should see this. All of the elements are there....fathers, sons, toys, the sense of wonder and horizons to conquer, miniature worlds of our own and the flat out joy of playing without a care in the world. Just very nicely done!
Thank you, Don! And, Merry Christmas to you!!!!
Beautiful, just beautiful. Captures the essence of a train lovers Christmas and the family ties that are even more important to Christmas.
Bravo!

Merry Christmas!
Man, I'm getting mushy as I grow old.
Uh hmm. My eyes are just watery from the dust!
Didn't see any American Flyer Trains?????
Great video, wish mom and dad would have had pictures of us kids and trains when we were young! Man that sure brings back memories!
Magnificent piece of work on this video. And I sure you probably had to clean up some of these photos. Thanks for your hard work and Merry Christmas to you also Don.
CSam, look closer. There is some American Flyer in the shots. Roger. yes I did clean up some. Sorry to say a few I just couldn't do much with. What a fun project it was. Don
Thank you very much. My grown children loved seeing me in the video. Merry Christmas Roger

Thank you Don. Very nicely done.......Not to hijack this thread.......Can you post your other Christmas video of better times just before the start of WW2?I believe it was a familys Christmas eve party. I saved this for a few years in my favorites but it got lost somewhere in cyberspace. Maybe others will enjoy this as well.
Don (and the OGR crew): Thanx for the memories! Wish I had some to share in photos but in 1938, my folks didn't have a camera. Not to worry, though; this wonderful collection brings back all the memories for me.
A very Merry Christmas to all of you!
Paul Fischer
that was great, thanks! Dad passed his trains onto me several years ago, and I inherited Uncle Jim's trains when he passed. I do have a couple pics of Dad's trains when he was growing up, but I don't have any pics of him or his brother playing with them when they were kids.
Don,
Gosh, you had me all choked up by the "When I was a boy" intro to the song and when it got to the "I played with trains", you had me good. (And, considering I was a little girl who played with trains, that's something :-) Then it moved on through its wonderful photo journey. Some names were familiar, some not, but the feeling and instant, warm recognition were there regardless.
I love the song, so simple, yet it evokes so much. Just as the photos do.
Thank-you so much for your considerable time and talents putting togethervthis great piece.
Happy Holidays Don, Rich, and fellow Forumites!

jinis, I will post it for you on the regular forum. What was amazing about the footage was the smiles and good times. It wasn't before WW2 it was shot December 24, Christmas Eve right after the war started. I don't think any of these folks knew what we were in for at the time. The tall man with no hair was little Mikes father. He didn't make it a year after these films were shot. Don
I will post it for you now 4:15 Hawaii time.
Don,
Your videos are simply the best of all !!! Fantastic !!
Eliot
Thanks for doing this! Merry Christmas guys!
This is my first Christmas without dad. Your video brought back memories and touched me very much. Thank you.
Merry Christmas to you all!
That was great, Don! Thank you!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
