I have the following engines:

381E, 390 and 392

I am looking to aquire at least one set of corresponding passenger cars to run with these engines. At the moment I can't seem to locate my copy of  the pre-war trains book.

Any suggestions as to what cars would have been sold to run with these engines?

Thanks

Charlie

Hi Charlie

In the 1931 catalog Lionel lists outfit number 409E which had a 381E electric type locomotive and three state cars (the state set)

In the 1931 catalog Lionel lists outfit number 368Ewhich has a 390 steam locomotive two 424 illuminated Pullman coaches and a 426 observation car. They call this the Pennsylvania Limited so these would be Stephen Girard cars but they specifically say two 424 Pullmans no mention of car 425

In the 1932 catalog Lionel lists outfit 370E with a 392 steam locomotive 310 baggage car 309 Pullman and 312 observation car.

In the 1932 catalog Lionel lists outfit 372E The Pennsylvania Limited with a 392 steam locomotive and cars 424, 425, 426 the three numbers for the two tone green Stephen Girard cars.

Hope this is helpful

Sincerely

Frank
