This Lionel catalog leak really bums me out. After waiting for so long only to have the surprise and catalog routine ruined. I already know some of the major items without even seeing the pictures in the great unveiling. Majorly disappointed! who is responsible for this? Was it on the Lionel website? I know the pricelist was posted early on legacy station (boo legacy station), but how was the cataloged leaked and how is Lionel going to deal with this sabotage of my catalog constitution? Lionel needs to be ruthless about this like Apple or Bethesda Softworks. I mean really not a peep about the shipping schedule... but the catalog... Major bummer. Who ever is responsible  thanks for ruining this for me...

Gotta keep a healthy perspective on this stuff, Winston.  It's really no big deal.  Folks try and make such a big deal about touting how they have the inside track to things and are sworn to secrecy... Yada, yada, yada.  And usually things work out well.  This time it didn't 'cause Lionel posted the catalog online prematurely, then populated the website with product info.  Ooops...

Nothing lost.  No trade secrets revealed.  The sky didn't fall.  Folks will still be excited tomorrow.  There are bigger problems in life to be bummed about.

Not me, this is going to be a mellow dramatic moment. I was all excited about spending money... now it kinda feels like a NYC mugging or paying my tax bill. I might not even order... the excitement is gone. I might buy a new washer/dryer instead. Lowes has 30% off major appliances over labor day weekend, that's more exciting than the new Lionel catalog. When does the MTH catalog come out?

MTH catalog comes out on line October 21, and hard copy hand-outs at the York show on the 22nd..

I get 404 error, It does not work for me, I get a page not found error on the Nassau site...

I cant see it at Lionel either, can anyone see it at Lionel's site?

I tried to go to the pre-orders now, and was able to see some engines, but the site crashed when I clicked on.

Does anyone else have this catalog posted?  Anywhere?

Couple of things jumped out at me as a quickly paged through the catalog...

Whistle-steam IS featured on the Heisler and 2-8-0 locomotives, according the the catalog.  I recall reading some posts earlier where that might not be the case.

Pricing is pretty much as we had discussed the other day.  But WOW!!!  Lionel is clearly pricing themselves out of the market for items like the E7 AA sets, Heislers, and FEF-3's.

Charlie Ro had the original E7/E8 sets for $665 or so as I recall.  Now it's looking like street-pricing will be up around $800 on a $1,000 MSRP.  Insane for just one powered unit and one dummy.  For those prices, both should be powered.  Only Lionel can try and get away with that.  Try and sell something like that on the forum for-sale boards, and folks would laugh at the seller.

No, Matt.  Those are just the last 4 aluminum sets from an earlier catalog.  About 4-6 more 18" aluminum sets (one of which was the Texas Special) were replaced by the upcoming 21" ABS sets.  But Lionel's shipping schedule still has many of those cancelled 18" sets still listed.    Oh well.  They'll get the memo from China eventually.

You always complain about prices david Lets face it, its not Lionels fault at all.

Plenty of folks shelled out $1400 for hudsons with 100 year old tooling, $2000 for bigboys, and now after what appears to be a total sell out, and handful of folks are clamoring at auctions to pay $400 for a steel reefer with sounds ( you get 2 without sound for $100 or so)

What ever the're doing it works. ( I'm not sayin its right) I suppose the sheer volume of traffic here on the forum on new products good or bad is an indicator too.

Page 131.  The crane sounds work house.

Rusty

I went back and saw this crane sound building, and a similar intermodal sound building. Figured the building had been done before, just new sounds. Not something for me, unfortunately.

Have to agree. Love the MR E-7 but for the reasons you mentioned, pricing is way over the top, I'm out...

But, when I thought I was safe, as a veteran that SD60 brought me back.

They're killing me, Brother!

Clearly they're picking on UP steam lovers this time...Thought they'd give us freaks a break after the VL BB!  But no, they had to reissue UP steam with Legacy and torture a man...

I can't wait for the 21" UP Excursion passenger cars!  Down right torture doing that to me!
