Ok guys, you forced me to get this project off the work bench. As you can see, I used the KISS method, very simple.
The block of 1x4 was cut just wide enough to fit inside the lips of the frame.
Leading and trailing edger were rounded off.
Four holes were drilled for nails, the holes were countersunk a little so the nail head would be flush with the block.
The holes were drilled through the block and the frame at the same time to make sure they were aligned correctly when the nails were added.
With the nails in place, the Scotch Brite pad was wrapped over and stapled in place.
The trucks had to be moved toward the ends of the frame by about 3/4 inch to allow the cleaning block to fit, note that the wheels now extend a bit past the end of the car.
A piece of leftover egg crate type foam was used between the cleaning block and frame to provide a bit of downward pressure.
Some rubber vacuum hose was slipped part of the way over the nails to hold the cleaning block in and allow some up and down travel.
Except the Scotch Brite, everything used was stuff laying around.
The McCoy shell and roof were from a batch of parts I bought. Trucks are from the spares box. Someday I will make up a couple of doors.
