Good morning, steam locomotive fans everywhere!  Welcome to the second half of New York Central weekend!

Today’s featured steamer is my MTH Premier NYC 0-4-0 no. 901.  She’s hauling a train we’ve seen before, a load of military hardware destined for Fort Devens in Ayer, MA.  The location of this move is the B&A/NYC yard in Worcester, MA; no. 901 will pull the train to the B&M yard in North Worcester and the latter road will deliver the train to Fort Devens.  Seen along the B&M route is a group of GIs training at Devens.

B&M 4-6-0 Ten-Wheeler is a Lionel Legacy model (2131050) delivered in 2021 at MSRP $749.99. Lionel has used this tooling to make models with many road names. The prototype is a New York Central class F-2 Ten-Wheeler built by Alco in 1907 that closely resembles the model of B&M #2074. The engine is shown on my 12’-by-8’ model railroad pulling B&M wood-sided passenger coaches by Lionel from tooling made by MTH. Wood passenger cars were used on the B&M into the 1950s.

Thanks so much Arnold for keeping the boiler fired up and getting us rolling today!  Your Commodore Vanderbilt Hudson looks terrific with those heavy weight passenger cars!

I posted these photos of my new Weaver brass 0-6-0 steam locomotive on Switcher Saturday yesterday.  This engine is well detailed with a realistic coal pile.   The locomotive's Seuthe  unit smokes/ works quite well ... see video at bottom of post.

The B&O purchased 40 of these locomotives ... 20 from Baldwin Locomotive Works ... and 20 from American Locomotive Works ( ALCO ) in 1919.  The B&O classified all 40 as D-30.  They were built using USRA specs.  The entire fleet of B&O D-30s were retired in 1956.

Well good morning Steamday Sunday Fans, today I am going back to pre-war days but I am taking my inspiration from our leader Arnold this morning and posting a Commodore Vanderbilt locomotive.  This one, a red boiler & cab, wind up version from Marx dated 1938-1939.  She is paired with a NYC "wagon top" tender, also in red but perhaps a year later 1940-41 but they could have been together easily as Marx was never shy about using up stock left over from prior years and tenders were sold as separate items.  Anyway they came to me as a pair along with a set of red 6" passenger cars.  Note the plain almost flat front with only the headlight rim showing through.  No RR names and unlike the electrical powered version, no "Commodore Vanderbilt" nameplates on the side.  This lack of decoration is in fact an identifying characteristic of the wind up loco's in the pre-war period.

Here is a closer view of her type 551, "wagon top", NYC tender.

Happy Sunday everyone!  Hope your week goes well.  I start back to teaching on Monday...with a new class and a new course...so wish me Luck!

This was my father’s who passed away last year.  He liked tinplate and found a deal at Legacy Station years ago for this ps2 version.  I doubt if I will ever be able to disassemble his wall display he made for it.

This is Beautiful  a  real Masterpieces. I have that train and it was the start of my enthusiasm for the hobby I full relate to your fathers choice to persevere. I hope your family takes comfort in his passion for hobby and how he has preserved him self in this display. What a fantastic legacy to pass down.
