Thanks for the pictures. I enjoyed that tour. Quite a few displays look either new or better than the last time I visited, but others....well.
Great photos...thank you.
Thanks for posting these. I'm planning on going there for a day this Fall. Can't wait!
Wow, they yanked all the tracks off their turntable? What's the story there?

That was done prior to the winter. The turntable needed some repairs.
maybe just just maybe, this might have some thing to do with it.
Nice pictures.
Nice place to visit. been there a few times. Some great trains including the Big Boy in the outer area, the theater and round house are nice. There were a lot of Rusty items waiting for restoration, i guess manpower and funding issues.
thanks for posting,
Those rusty engines are an absolute disgrace. I interfaced with the Park Service running that place many years ago, trying to get them involved in a movie project. On that job we spent $70,000 to make a small set of an office. Steamtown would have made a potential million dollars had we used them. They displayed no interest in accomodating us, making all sorts of demands about "keeping the place open for visitors", which our filming would prevent them from doing, nor had any concept of making money to support restoration efforts.
This placed is managed by people who have no experience in private industry nor are they concerned with having Steam Town make money. They are in "La-La" land.
Great shots although I have to say it is depressing to see such fine locomotives, that I remember seeing in better shape, fading away. I'm glad to see the 759 in the roundhouse, under cover.

Recent paint job, five years ago. Tax dollars spent so poorly. IMO.
2010 picture. Before paint work.
Picture in the same file, paint was probably done as part of the 2008 Stimulus package.
Work was done 2010.

not as bad as 'ol 47. Looks like they used water based paint on The Big Boy.
Thanks for the pics.
Nice photos.
Haven't been there is about 25 years. Need to get back some time. Only about 45 min away, just never the time. Need to make time.
You have some nice photos there. The ones that I can identify are the Reading # 903; it's an FP-7 diesel(F-7 passenger engine) and the other Reading diesel engine is an RS-3(at least it looks like an RS-3), CNJ had an RS-3 in there too.
Do they still have the Reading Lines T-1 steam engine up there? It's a 4-8-4.

Yes, it is Reading T-1 #2124, the locomotive that handled the very first Iron Horse Ramble, plus she has roller bearings on all axles.
