Hey, I just wanted to let everybody know about Wayne Cole's new book, Ghost Rails X.  Wayne has compiled some amazing facts and photographs of steel mill construction and operation.  The book primarily covers Aliquippa and Southern and Jones and Laughlin steel but would be a great resource for any modeler or student of the iron/steel making process.  I got my copy at a show but here is the address listen in the book.

As heavily rail oriented as steel mills are, I am kind of surprised that there are no kits or operating accessories of steel mill structures--at least, none that I am aware of (and I'm not including the Bethlehem Steel culvert loader/unloader).  They would, of course, have to be subject to extreme selective compression to fit on the average layout, but they would certainly allow all of the O gauge slag and hot metal cars available over the years to be put to work!
