Stinkin' Smoke Fluid

I never could understand people putting stinking fluid in their engines. I use Nada and that has some odor but is the least stinky of the lot. Coffee from a caboose or bread from a bakery, yes. But not in the engine. I guess yours will wear off with time.

You put in flowery smoke fluid to keep the wife happy...it's one less thing they will complain about.

I mostly just use "NADA" smoke fluid from Megasteam. You could run that threw your smoke unit a few fills and that should break it down. If it really bugs you you could just change out the old wick with a new piece and wipe out the smoke unit. Believe it or not I have done this with a brand new MTH engine because the smoke fluid they use at the factory stinks IMO.  

Diesels aren't supposed to smoke that much, why not turn it off?

Tell it like it is. In the real world they smoke very little if not at all. If they do, they're pulled from service. I agree, flip the switch or even better yet..cut.. the wire.

No it won't! Re-wick it as suggested or turn it off. Maybe the girls liked trains.

I ha ha to that because they smoke I can,t tell how many times.I have seen diesels smoking both ge emd old and new units.Because when pulling a very heavy train.

my wife would love that!!  I m been using MTH coal,,had mint but it didnt smell like mint..

I will admit, I have a engine reserved for the Christmas Layout, It smokes with JT's Christmas Pine scent in it. My wife likes the Tree smell and she really hates the Coal fired steamer smell.

I run Coal in the others but Pine in that one to keep the peace. I don't mind the Pine anyway. I also have Sawdust scent for the Sawmill.

 

Now, to the point, changing the smell takes a lot of time and refills, at least in my limited experience.

If you can't stand the smell re-wick the thing and be done with it.

Unless it is an Alco with turbo lag, a smoking diesel needs to go to the shop!

I run almost  all scale steam engines and I refuse to use coal smoke, are you kidding me! It is disgusting. 

 

I use only Bart's pneumatics cedar brand. Smells allot like the old American flyer  smoke from when I was a kid. Kids and adults both don't mind the smell

try the authentic coal scented smoke fluid if you want a macho aroma!!!

And so how is it again that the water front brothel analogy came to mind?   Former Navy man?  Dock worker? Politician?

As we used to say back in my night club hosting days: "if it smells like cologne... leave it alone."
