I have a new MTH Premier Conrail heritage unit that is stuck in Neutral.. I have tried changing the F/S ,F/F R/R with no results.. I have tried resetting the engine back to factory specs.. No change.. It was running properly until a wrong series buttons were pushed and the engine locked up.. Everything works lights sounds couplers.. it just won't move.. Any suggestions

Are you operating under DCS or conventionally?
What do you mean by "I have tried changing the F/S ,F/F R/R"?
The engine was operating in DCS mode .There is a section under one of the menu headings which would allow you to have the engine start in forward then when you change direction it would go into reverse F/R. This would be the way it comes from the factory.. Under that same heading are two additional modes FF where the engine will only run in forward even if the direction button is pushed and the RR mode only will run in reverse.. That is my understanding.. I made sure that it was in the F/R mode.. When that didn't work I reset the engine to factory specs and that also did not help

When you did the factory reset did you have volume turned up full, and shut off power after the reset? When you shutoff the power did shutdowns sounds play until completion or did sounds abruptly stop? G
I don't remember how it shut down.. The sound volume was turned all the way up
Go back and do the reset again after making sure the battery is charged. After doing the factory reset, turn off the power and listen for the shutdown to complete normally and not cut off in the middle.
Factory resets only take if the unit has a fully charged and functional battery/battery circuit. The other thing you can do is try conventionally to unlock the engine following the directions in the manual. With engine moving slowly in the forward direction about 10Vs, press the horn once and bell button 3 times in sequence. G

I'm not sure whether this engine is proto-2 or 3. If proto-2 ,try the battery test by removing track power, engine sounds should carry on for at least7 or 8 seconds.
Again cut off track power , not shut down with remote.
If battery is good... Menu/Advanced/reset engine/ feature reset....
Do you have a track signal or use a programming track?? good luck
George, the first trick is to get it moving at all. He says it doesn't move.
To many repairs on my mind...:-) Same applies though, keep voltage low around 10V and do the H/B sequence to unlock. G
Thanks for all your help.. I tried every thing .. nothing worked.. I took the body off to look for obvious problems loosed connection etc.. Nothing helped.. I did find that the circuit board was very hot to the touch.. I have decided to send this unit out for repair
If the board is getting hot, that's a pretty sure sign that something significant is indeed wrong! That's not a configuration issue.
Did you check the motor with a DC power supply after unplugging it from the board? If the motor is stalled, that could cause the board to heat up.
