Suggestion for what t use for high voltage power lines

You can buy bare copper stranded wire from Home Depot, Lowes or any electrical supply house.  It comes on a spool.  It's that wire you see as the ground wire used on ceiling hung lighting fixtures.

Folks that rebuild fly rods use very fine and tightly woven rod building thread to secure line guides to the rod. There are many colors (including metallic) and several weights available. A source that provides great personal service as well as many choices is Hook and Hackle Company. Their website (hookhack.com) shows the colors available.

The first time you reach over to fix something, you will appreciate the EZ Line since they will stretch and give.  Real wire will snap, or worse, snap your poles.

I concur, but more specifically Spiderwire. 

I always used silver sewing thread.

The best wire sag I recall was with a spandex thread, I'm brain farting on the gents name at the moment but suggest spandex as a search term here to find it.  It also might have had "street running" used in the title of this VERY realistic layout.
