Folks,

I am currently building a live catenary system. I bought a Menard's Power and Light Plant some time ago.

My plan is to run some power lines from the power plant onto some MTH High Tension towers and then connect to the catenary.   I will then run a dummy high voltage line above all the catenary and make connections at various points.

This is all fake power lines as the catenary is actually feed from taps down to the track.

I am looking for suggestions on what to use for the lines coming off the plant to the catenary and then along the top of the catenary.

Thanks,

Ed

Check out EZ Line products.

White $8.98

  • Rust (great for barbed wire) $10.98
  • Green (old copper) $10.98
  • Rope (tan) $10.98
  • New! French Blue (great for airplane models) $10.98
  • Black (shows up better against a light background)* $10.98

* The black color in fine size does not show up well (actually, it can almost disappear) against a dark background such as ground cover, trees, or towns.
We demonstrate this on the diorama that we use at shows and many customers choose the green (which has just a hint of color) or the white which shows up more

Folks that rebuild fly rods use very fine and tightly woven rod building thread to secure line guides to the rod. There are many colors (including metallic) and several weights available. A source that provides great personal service as well as many choices is Hook and Hackle Company. Their website (hookhack.com) shows the colors available.
