This week I finally grassed up the corner hills to sort of match the flanks of N.C's Grandfather Mountain in late springtime.

Found some cresote in a bucket at the farm and decided it would be appropriate for shading my old time timber tunnel portal. Not a good decision, the odor lasted four days more or less and the timber is now too dark. Hopefully a scrubbing with thinner will lighten it somewhat but the odor will likely resurrect and hang out for another week.

This week I added this background to the warehouse district of the layout. It is a scene from Pottsville, PA from back in the day. I thought it fit in well.  I also started some mountain construction experimenting with some new methods.  A video I purchased from Model Railroad hobbyist gave me ideas for using floral foam and a clay product for construction.

A big Thank you to forum member Steve Zigmont from who I purchased these two CSX work trucks from.

Here are the first of the new scenic panels for the layout at our local hobby shop, Mohawk Valley Railroad Company, in Schenectady NY. Don Klose and I are restoring the partially dismantled store layout for the new owners. These panels will sit on the layout's highest level which is well above eye level.

A river will emerge from between the hills in the second photo and cascade a scale 200' down to the lowest level.

The buildings are HO scale to create some forced perspective and a greater illusion of distance.

I had done quite a few Pittsburg and Shawmut hoppers with dry transfers from TRM Dist, but they seem to have nothing available for Montour.   I acquired all (12) Atlas Montour offering and the recent Montour hoppers from Weaver.

A quick check this morning shows Weaver still offering Montour Offset two bay hoppers

Atlas did two runs of the 55 ton hoppers, if you check there may still be some of the second run available.

My next project maybe a wood side caboose.  This sets along the Montour trail behind the Findlay Twp. Municipal Bldg.
