Very nice scenes, Thank you.
Great leavingtracks and Jim. Jim I went through Mott Haven yesterday to go to the Yankee game.
Awesome photo's everyone, here's one of mine the good humor man getting an ice cream for the little boy on his fathers shoulders,on a hot day with two NYC steamers passing by.
Thanks, Alex
Everyone was fine. It was a fun hot day.
Here is an elevated station platform that I started. Also idea from Jim Policastro.
Traveling behind those GG-1’s, this car contains many miles of road and tunnel dust.
These cars often were assigned to passenger express service supplementing REA.

I painted this for a friend. The RSs never made it to the blue paint scheme but it was fun to do. No weathering...........

Happy weekend to all! Didnt get much done this week, trying to get my bathroom in the basement finished before it gets cold.
Anyway the workers have finished the pier and will begin the construction of the boat house and building.
Heres a drawing of what the pier building will look like when iits done.
The one thing i havnt figured to do yet is the flat roof upstairs where the railing is. I can use some suggestions since the people will be walking on the flat roof.
New trackside scene on the layout.
love these original designs, Patrick and Dan. Patrick that diorama is taking shape beautifully. when you ask about ideas for the flat roof do you mean because people should not be walking on the tar paper type roof materials? I suppose it could be gravel which would suggest a substructure that can support more weight or maye it should have a slightly raised wooden platform deck over the tar paper.
dan, the pickle salting station is really an original. nice to see structures that are unique and not on everyone else's layout. great job.

The ones I use are travertine tiles. The smaller ones are designed for borders. Those come bound to a fiberglass net backing, but are easy to separate for use.

Thats a great shot! Very nice work.
Jerrman,
Some kind of flat roof they can walk on . Cant put a concrete slab on wood structure.
Put the finishing touches on the Batterton Shoe Company factory (formally a MTH Grainery Building) this weekend. The factory will be placed on the layout as soon as the background for Maryville is completed, hopefully later this week. You can see more photos of the factory and my layout at: http://www.bostrains.com
Thanks, Bo
Wow, Some excellent work by all this week.
Dan, What did you use for the bands on those barrels, it looks great?
Thanks Rick. That is nylon filament fishing line. I used about 15 pound test. I cut an 8 foot piece and hung it from a beam in the basement and then ran a Floquil Rust Weathering Paint Pen up and down. Let it sit for a day and then cut to size.
Very nice phots everyone.
Alex, the ice cream truck really brings back some memories.

Patrick,
You mentioned that you were looking for feedback regarding your boathouse restaurant and how the stairs would tie into it. Having the stairs transition down the front would have blocked some of the facade area....but by having them return back into the building...it seems to work see attached/below...I imported your sketch into google sketchup pro...I create most of my stuff in scale dimension (also in 3D) to see how it will look (instead of making paper or cardboard mockups) and to give me working dimensions on the actual model.
PS: I would have put tables, chairs, and umbrellas on the deck but I ran out of time and need to hit a meeting in New Hampshire.
Sincerely,

Nick,
Great job with Google Sketch up! I love that program! Thats the exact rooftop deck I was talking about. I think that would look very neat. I would put windows and a door on the side of the Boathouse Restaurant going up to that level, to add a little more detail. Very cool!
Wow Nick , I think you are a mind reader. My Drawing skills are poor , i did plan to keep the stairs between the buildings because they would of ended up in the middle of the pier.
However I am so greatly appreciative of the time you took to do this, not to mention your skills. It really will help me alot more in planning this structure.I am starting it tonight after the kids go to bed. Boy thats a neat tool , it makes me even more exited to get started. Thanks again!
Will/Pat,
This is what I was talking about....I agree with the windows and door facing the terrace deck...PS: I had a little time....and added the tables with umbrellas and mentioned prior.
