Good Morning Everyone,
I will start up with a few water tanks I just finished making but have not painted yet.

I didn't do anything this train-related this week. However, I did stay in DC this week helping out with my new granddaughter.
Capitol Hill is beautiful this time of year. It is filled with building that originated in the steam or steam to diesel transition era. I took some pictures took some pictures for future reference for ideas on painting facades. I thought I would share them.....
I think it always helps to see what painters do with window mullions, the area around stacks, etc....
Hope this gives some ideas.
Peter
I appreciate your photo of our Capitol. I’m genuinely thankful it is still there.
You have reminded me there’s so many places we must look up to see and visit their splendor.
My activity in train layout scenery has been limited since February and today I’m pleased with this little bit I’ve accomplished the last of this week.
Exterior signage and interior flooring were added to the Atlas Wheeler Dealer dealership. The Waggoner family have been the greatest friends of my father before his passing on January 2, 1990. Dad will be one of the characters added inside later.

Peter, I also enjoy looking at and appreciating architectural details on older buildings, especially.
I had these Lionel smokestacks placed around the layout, but not hooked up; and instead of mortaring one at a time, I decided to get them all done over the weekend. Now, I can wire them in.
Nice work everyone.
I started working on a first for me, a hydrocal kit from Rich White models. I‘m still waiting on the grandt line parts, but got the walls epoxied together. The detail is pretty incredible. The carved heart on the back wall was a pretty cool touch!
Being new to the material, I picked up some odds and ends to practice painting. Suggestions of using thinned acrylic paints for hydrocal worked well. It has gotten me pretty excited about next steps for the build.
@ Anthony K
How fast do you take orders? ☺️😆
Guys, I’ve enjoyed our day together today…
I hope no one suffered damage from the terrible winds on Saturday. I hope No injuries as well.

Have always enjoyed the ,Hydrocal based kits, great detail, and yes acrylic is the way to go, just dont drop one!
Hi Alan and Everyone,
A nice variety of photos today. I see some admirers of hydrocal building kits amongst us. I'm sure those who have been following my recent builds know I do as well. Here are a few photos of the last one I put together. Alex, there's no turning back now...

Sometimes putting pictures up of real things really help us all with new ideas. Nice stuff.
John,
The car dealership is impeccable.
Paul,
I have used a couple of those stacks on various projects. Have fun with them.
Anthony,
I can’t wait to see the brush applied to your latest scene.
Anthony,
Hydrocal walls are very detailed and also very fragile. Take your time with this structure and I am sure you will have great results.
David,
I think you take the cake with these two structures. Leafs on the roof is pretty awesome. That is a first for me to see. I will be putting my pizza order in tonight. What’s the number for that place ?
Alan,
Thank you much! The restaurant is closed on Sundays. The owner is getting up in age and is old school when it comes to opening his business on Sundays. As far as I know you can only dine in or place an order inside. He says, the town has changed a lot since he opened his business.
Dave
Nice job Trainbros.
David,
You better tell the owner of the pizza place that he better hire a manager that will work seven days a week. Once the steel mill opens down the street there will be a lot of hungry steel workers looking for a nice sausage pie.
Alex, Nice start to that kit. Love the detail of the stone work on the casting. I’ll have to check out those kits.
Anthony K, I also model the fall. Looking forward to seeing the finished scene.
Dave, Beautiful job on those kits. What did you use to make the raised lettered sign ? Years ago I bought letters like you would see at a diner at Staples. . Where the specials would change each day. These look like a different font.
Thanks Dave! The letters come from Todd Architectural Models. He has a website and has all different sizes and a few different fonts I believe.
