Nice Work SIRT.  Here is my 1st weathering  of a car using water based oils.  I feel happy about it but still need to pay attention to the small stuff.  The trucks are to red and I need to start to finish the inside walls.  It did catch my eye after looking at it more.   Nick

Nice first attempt Nick.

You will find reddish trucks on older type AAR/ARA cars, not so much on PS-1’s.

Journal boxes are generally black from grease.

I used to apply black powder to outer wheels, not they get sprayed black during

the wheel rolling - painting process to speed things up.

First thing to do is dissemble entire car and paint the inside shell, door rails, inside doors and top & bottom frame.

Make a set of masking jigs out of scrap MDF if you plan on spraying a bunch of items.

I have one dedicated just for diesel couplers. Basically a box with a hole in front allowing the coupler to stick through.

Just remember, “sometimes less is more”

LI Train, have fun!

Alan Thanks for allowing me to come see your workshop and your phenomenal projects!

Look forward to later this year being able to have you do some custom work for my layout.

Thanks again,
