Sunset 3rd rail SD40-2 project?

I would call Scott at 3rd rail and ask him.

Not anytime soon, just not getting enough orders.

I have emailed Scott and Jonathan. Hopefully they will respond. 

According to the announcements from 3RD Rail, the SD40-2 project has been put on hold.    As of this winter, the aim has been moved to doing the early GPs - GP7 and GP9.     Potentially this could include GP18 and GP20 but that has not been stated yet.         

I talked to Scott at the March Meet in Chicago and he said the GP7/9 project is generating a lot of interest and the reservations were coming in very well.     He said he expects this project to go forward to replaced the SD40 project for the near future.

There's something about the second and third generation diesels that can't get any momentum from Sunset/ third rail . I would love to get an SDP40f for Amtrak and/ or an SD45-2 for Conrail.

Hopefully Scott can get enough reservations for the SD40. If I could get a solid answer on minimum curve I’d reserve a few.

SD45 would be nice, but personally like to see GP38-2’s High hoods especially. 

Scott informed me these SD40-2s with fixed pilots will negotiate 054 curves and 072 switches. I put my reservation in for two Southern high hoods and one N&W low short hood. Might add more as we get closer to production. 

I jumped on the SD40-2 bandwagon with a Kodachrome unit. I emailed Scott and he replied "I need more pre-orders to get them made". That surprised me as the SD40-2 was everywhere in every livery - I thought more folks would be interested and this would be a no brainer.

Anyway - I hope they get made.

Project offering has just been updated. New / added roads, 2021 production, modest price increase to help offset lowish reservations numbers.
