The news from the city of Munoz is causing celebrations all over town. The contracts have been signed, the surveyors are at work and construction is slated to begin any day now.
After almost two years of work on a top secret project, Ginny and I are rolling up our sleeves for, what is sure to be, the last railroad we will build. It will also be the greatest railroad we have ever built. The "Munoz Lines" will now stretch from the streets of Manhattan, where I was born, to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Stops along the way will include Philadelphia and Kansas City Union Station.
GG-1's will run under catenary from Penn Station to Philladelphia. The 20th Century Limited will run all the way to Kansas City (Peanut Gallery no comments, please). The Super Chief will run from Chicago, through Kansas City to Albuquerque. A steam yard will be built that will be second to none.
Last, but not least, the greatest military train I ever saw will make a stop in Kansas City along with the complete American Freedon Train. A visit to Kansas City will be made by the Union Pacific special pulled by the Big Boy !
Did I really promise all of that? What about a subway train in Manhattan for dad? Oh, yeah. That, too !
Uh oh, narrow gauge? A two rail line? Of course.
